Bling Empire was my favorite binge as of recently. I highly recommend the Netflix hit, not just because everyone is talking about it, but because it’s really so good. We finally get to see REAL wealth (I’m looking at you, Dorit Kemsley) and the drama is fresh and different.
One main plot line throughout the show was the on-again, off-again relationship between Kelly Mi Li and boyfriend Andrew Gray. From blow outs in Paris, to couples therapy, the two just couldn’t seem to make it work. Nor could they let each other go. SPOILER ALERT! In the last scene of the show, Kelly showed up at his door and fell into his arms. It was a tad dramatic with his shiftlessness and all, but what made it even more dramatic was just how upset fans were. We really thought Kelly had gotten away and she just went back for more.
Turns out, it didn’t end there. As reported by E! News, a video update on the cast was released and the couple revealed they are back together. That gets a big “ugh” from me. Why will no one listen to Queen Anna Shay when she said, “There ain’t no dick that good”?
Anyway, according to Kelly, “After filming, we took a good, I would say, five-month or six-month break where we just focused on ourselves.” She also said they have gone to “therapy individually” and have “learned about ourselves.” Once that happened, they decided to be “back in communication” and “back seeing each other.”
Kelly says being together now is like “night and day.” Andrew agreed, saying, “We are together today. Stronger, happier than we ever have been.” Is it just me or does every on-again, off-again relationship have this same format? It’s always make up, break up, focus on selves, then come back “stronger than ever.” I’m sorry if this sounds antiquated, but should it really be that much work? No. And I know Anna would agree with me.
The couple faced a lot of backlash about their relationship once the show came out. Kelly admits, “They saw a period, a really dark period, of our relationship. And with Andrew’s behavior, I don’t excuse it at all. I think it’s a hundred percent wrong.”
Andrews goes on to defend himself from the criticism, saying he’s “grown a lot.” As for therapy, he said, “I’ve been able to resolve so many issues that I didn’t even know were still open like a wound.”
At least one castmate is in their corner. Kevin Kreider, who made a play for Kelly when she was broken up with Andrew, believes people can change. He said, “People change. And people forget that he will change too, and he will become better and he will learn from all of this stuff. People aren’t always like that.”
I wish I was as optimistic as Kevin but alas, I’m a realist. In my humble opinion, it’s only a matter of time before Andrew goes back to his old ways. And there isn’t enough therapy in the world for that dude.
TELL US – DO YOU THINK KELLY AND ANDREW SHOULD BE BACK TOGETHER? DO YOU WANT TO SEE A SECOND SEASON OF BLING EMPIRE? DO YOU THINK ANDREW CAN CHANGE?
