On last night’s episode of Married At First Sight , the honeymoon is literally over! The newlywed couples return to home to begin living together. The pressure of moving in proves to be too much for some, while others enjoy discovering new facets of their new spouse.
There seems to be some obvious cracks in the foundation for many of the couples. This is why I love when the couples move in together. This is the time where people start getting more real and their true personalities start coming out. There are some twists that are revealed in this episode, that you don’t want to miss! Let’s get straight to the Married At First Sight recap!
Haley & Jacob
The honeymoon is truly over for Haley and Jacob. After lying about having a girl’s night to ditch Jacob to hang out with the other couples solo, she has the nerve to expect him to apologize for finding out. What kind of parallel universe is this woman living on? To add insult to injury, she changed her seat on the plane to have some “alone time.” I am confused and clearly so is Haley. Did she think she was signing up for Match.com or Married At First Sight? As a married woman you don’t get to just ditch your husband like he is never-ending bad date. Jacob is dorky and eccentric, but at least he is trying, which is more than I can say for her, right now.
Once in their new apartment, Jacob finally confronts Haley on her illusive behavior. When she takes zero accountability for actions, he becomes frustrated and proceeds to tell her what he really thinks. Not only is she high strung, he feels like she is full of “bullshit.” Sigh! Well, I can’t disagree with him, but I’m sure that was the best way to communicate his feelings. Regardless if she isn’t feeling the chemistry or not, there is a such thing as common decency.
It has to be embarrassing for him to find out his own wife didn’t want to include him in a group activity and everyone knew it. The fact that Haley isn’t acknowledging her actions could have been hurtful is incredibly immature. Jacob decides to apologize for his words, but still no apology from his wife. The night ends with them sleeping in separate rooms on their first night in their new apartment.

Haley gives Jacob a tour of her apartment which is very neat and controlled, as I assumed it would be. Jacob’s house isn’t bad; it just looks like the 80’s threw up on it, in certain areas. Things seem to be going well until Jacob introduces his dogs to Haley’s dog. One dog in particular doesn’t appreciate visitors infringing on his territory. I don’t have any idea how they are going to manage four dogs in that apartment.
Pastor Calvin visits to provide counsel to Haley and Jacob in their marriage. Jacob is concerned about his wife’s lack of affection. She claims she pulled back because she isn’t accustomed to showing affection or accusations. She goes further to say she doesn’t feel they have a connection and his obsession with the 80’s is a turnoff. I am a little disappointed that Jacob didn’t mention why he got to the point of frustration. He never mentions being ditched on the honeymoon and how it made him feel. Instead the entire conversation focuses on her feelings and what she needs to try to like him. Honestly, I think she is reverting to old habits of completely shutting down when a man turns her off. The only problem is she is now married to that man.
Paige & Chris
Rather than returning to Atlanta to move in with his wife, Chris opts to fly to Chicago instead. After being MIA for days, he finally meets with Paige. He demands that production not be present during the conversation. Paige calls a producer in a frenzy to relay the details of their conversation. My heart breaks hearing her upset that her new husband revealed to her he is still in love with his ex. He also plans on moving forward with a divorce.
Whether she knows it or not, this is a blessing in disguise. I just hate that she had to be used and humiliated in the process. Once the dust settles, she will come to realize that she dodged a huge bullet. Ending this now would only prevent her from suffering further embarrassment. I blame the experts for this! I refuse to believe out of all of the candidates, a man who just ended an engagement merely months ago was their best option.
Pastor Calvin timidly enters Paige’s apartment to face the music for this awful match. During the discussion, she reveals all of the dirty details of their short-lived marriage. Apparently, she felt pressured to have sex with Chris, only to discover later after having sex twice he wasn’t attracted to her. Not only that, after going over the timeline, it’s clear Chris had sex with his “ex” while going through the Married At First Sight casting process. She also confesses that she and Chris have been having unprotected sex virtually every day since getting married. WTH! In a twist of events, Chris walks through the door as he is being aired out for all of his dirty deeds.

Chris clearly made an appearance for two reasons, crisis management and public relations. He had no intention of being truthful as he talks in circles. In a post interview, Pastor Calvin confesses he has no intention of fighting for this relationship, he agrees with them getting divorced. Once he leaves, Chris whispers to Paige that he fears he is falling in love with her. Insert eye roll here. I can’t believe he is this manipulative and she is making it so easy for him. She literally tells the cameras that this may not be the end for them. Ummm… what the hell are you talking about? Girl, leave this liar alone! I am so disappointed that Paige can’t see the forest for the trees because she wants to have the title of wife, so badly.
Virginia & Erik
Virginia takes Erik on a tour of her current apartment. It is neat, cozy and the décor is fresh out of college chic. Erik learns his wife expects him to depend on allergy medication for the rest of his life for her cats. As a person with allergies, that would be a huge issue for me. Next stop is Erik’s home which is much larger, but definitely has more of a bachelor pad feel to it. Later, Pastor Calvin visits to see how they are faring in their marriage, so far. Right away, he jumps into the topic of their age difference and viewpoints on marriage. It becomes glaringly obvious Virginia isn’t ready for a marriage, let alone a relationship. She has no concept of what is appropriate and normal as someone’s wife.
Clara & Ryan
Ryan gives Clara a tour of his apartment. On the outside it looks very neat until you look a little deeper and realize he likes to just throw things in drawers. In the kitchen, a shelf is broken and he didn’t bother fixing or removing it, he just continued to throw things on it. Later, when they meet with Pastor Calvin they both play the role of the happy married couple. After some prodding, we find out that they haven’t consummated their relationship because Ryan wants to create a stronger foundation first. Clara shares her fear of being hurt because she is so prone to falling in love. Although Ryan has never been in love, he admits that he is fully committed to his wife.
Briana & Vincent
Pastor Calvin pays a visit to newlyweds, Briana and Vincent in their new apartment. Initially, the two both gush over about how perfect they are for one another. But Vincent finally admits to foreseeing the way Briana communicates as a potential problem, in the future. He beats around the bush, but it’s obvious he thinks she may be a little too bossy at times.
Briana gives Vincent the grand tour of her apartment and he is overwhelmed by the amount of clothes and shoes she has. When he shows off his apartment, she is impressed by how clean and well maintained he keeps his home. Later, when they move into their new shared apartment, things are off to a bad start after a champagne toast. When he spills the champagne on his shirt, she says “How very Vincent of you.” What does that mean, exactly? Vincent’s attitude completely changes and he is forced to have a conversation with her about belittling him.

When she doesn’t apologize and makes excuses, he gets his bag and leaves. Briana, you are going to have to learn how to talk to people in a way that doesn’t make them feel like you are talking down to them. A man like Vincent isn’t going to tolerate that and it will only push him away.
