When Lisa Rinna’s daughter Amelia Hamlin posted a bunch of glammed up photos on Instagram, I couldn’t recognize her. Well, other than the name on her Instagram account confirming that it’s her in the photo. But, that’s not surprising. From all the nips, tucks, injections, and photoshopping on Instagram, it’s hard for me to recognize most of these reality TV stars.
In this particular photo, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills offspring is much tanner than usual. And, in response, some Instagram users accused her of blackfishing; I.e. intentionally making her skin tone look darker.
In her Instagram Story, Amelia wrote, “I’m receiving a lot of comments in regard to my latest photo. I am being told that I am ‘black fishing’- thank you all for educating me on this topic. I recently went on vacation to the sun, and with my Italian heritage I tan very easily.”
She insisted, “There is no self tanner involved. Or intention of looking darker than my own natural skin color. I had a lot of fun creating this look with no malice intention or offense.”

Amelia shut off the ability to comment on her Instagram post, but that didn’t stop other Instagram pages from sharing it. On the Hollywood Unlocked page, one IG user commented “I thought this was two different people.” Someone else said “Imma need her to wipe all that makeup off, so we can see what the sun did.”
Other people didn’t think that the tanned RHOBH progeny did anything wrong. Someone wrote, “People stay reaching every week like damn let people tan in peace.” Another asked, “Damn is it really that serious for y’all?” One Instagram user commented, “Lord, ppl really making her apologize for getting a tan!?”

Kyle Richards, Dorit Kemsley, and her mom (obviously) “liked” the post. So did Brielle Biermann, who was accused of photoshopping her skin to look darker.
