Despite arguably being the OG of OGs, NeNe Leakes’ departure from the Real Housewives of Atlanta was very disappointing. She closed her laptop in the middle of a Zoom reunion never to return, after failed contract negotiations, and rumors of a firing, which led her to forgo her peach. And to put the nail in the coffin, she’s called out the network, Andy Cohen particularly, and has been trying to rally fans to boycott Bravo. No matter how much Marlo Hampton hopes, it looks like NeNe’s time as a housewife really is over for good.
And it’s disappointing because when NeNe was good on RHOA, she was so good. Starting with her feuds with Kim Zolciak-Biermann during Season 1, NeNe delivered reads and one-liners unlike any other housewife from any other city. But it got to her head, which is evident with the demise of her friendship with one-time bestie Cynthia Bailey. While the two somewhat made amends during the reunion, NeNe proved that she let her ego get bigger than the show. And that never works out well, just look at what’s happened to Vicki Gunvalson or Danielle Staub.
Even though 50 Cynt and NeNe have such a long history together, that hasn’t stopped NeNe from violating their friend contract in a major way this week. NeNe’s new lounge, the Linnethia Lounge in Duluth, GA, opened last week. And to be the shadiest of all time she had none other than sleazy old Peter Thomas host the first promotional event. The RHOA ladies past and present really need a lesson on how to follow the girl code evidently, because lines have been crossed.
Both NeNe and the lounge posted a solo shot of Papa Smurf, declaring he would be “proposing the first toast” at the party. Both captions read, “None other than the restaurant lounge mogul man himself.” Hmm, I didn’t realize having multiple failed businesses that required your supermodel ex-wife to bail you out of qualified you as a “mogul” in the business world.

Nene and Peter have always had a flirtatious relationship. It seemed harmless when she and Cynthia were tight back in the day, but now it just seems messy. Peter posted a photo on his own Insta alongside NeNe. “Her lounge is absolutely beautiful, get the bag baby get the bag,” the caption read. He also shared a video dancing with NeNe and the chemistry is off the chain. But it all just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. NeNe did say that Peter was probably the messiest RHOA husband there was, so it’s not really surprising these two would team up to cause a stir.
And while 50 Cynt is bringing nothing, I REPEAT NOTHING, to the RHOA after last season, she is living her best life. She’s chilling with her new hubby Mike Hill and it’s nice to see her genuinely happy after years of dealing with a mooching husband with a bad attitude. Like, this man has a penchant for writing bad checks, not paying his bills, and taking credit for his ex-wife’s success, after possibly cheating on her. And she’s a legit MODEL. Peter has given bad vibes in the beginning but since the demise of his relationship with Cynthia, it’s obvious he still has a bad taste in his mouth.
