Eboni K. Williams has come in hot during her first season of the Real Housewives of New York. She’s called out Ramona Singer for referring to her assistants as “the help” and didn’t let Mona run away from the conflict like she usually does. She’s supported Sonja Morgan when it felt like the other girls were putting her down and gave her a confidence boost when she needed itmost. And she won’t stand for Luann de Lesseps using the “angry Black woman” trope to shame her for being proud of her education. Being new to this group of veteran housewives’ can’t be easy, especially as the first Black cast member (and likely the Ramonacoaster’s first Black friend) on the show’s history.
This week’s episode not only saw the feud between Heather Thomson and Leah McSweeney come to ahead but Eboni v. Lu as well. Luann was having a hard time putting aside her ego listening to Eboni’s feelings, even though everyone including her daughter and Sonjarita could understand the issue at hand. Lu finally apologized to Eboni and, at one point, seemed to show genuine remorse. But that wasn’t before the Countess said she felt as though Eboni owed her an apology.
Eboni recently spoke to Insider to dish about the fight with Lu and what emotions she was feeling during the dragged out looooong weekend in the Hamptons. Eboni said she had little time to decompress from the argument before sitting down and talking to Lu. However, she further explained why she believes she didn’t owe Lu an apology for the fight. “Black people, and Black women in particular, are constantly asked to apologize for white folks’ uncomfortability,” she said.
Eboni continued, saying that the confused look on her face after Luann asked for an “I’m sorry” as a result of an internal negotiation Eboni had with herself on the best way to respond “that would let her know how inappropriate the request was and also why it was an inappropriate expectation.””I’m not going to apologize for having a human experience,” she added.

Bravo should be giving Eboni a bonus for all the extra work she has to put in educating some of these ladies about racial issues while facing adversity. Like Sonja said, she really knows how to use her words, which makes some of the other ladies intimidated.
Eboni also discussed Luann’s accusation that she was “jumping in [her] face” during the argument, even though the cameras and Sonja’s account prove that’s not true. Eboni said that Lu was “recreating of history to serve a narrative that says Black women are angry and aggressive.” Lu didn’t respond to Insider’s request for comment, but frankly, she’s said enough about this situation already.
