I honestly am still in shock from all the casting news involving the Real Housewives of Orange County that broke this week. Heather Dubrow is headed back after a four-year hiatus, and Bravo kicked off Braunwyn Windham-Burke and Kelly Dodd. The problematic duo might be polar opposites on paper, but they share a lot of similarities. Both have exhibited outrageous and downright toxic behavior throughout their time on the show. Both were reallllly banking on a comeback for Season 16. And both have the ability to bring feuding Bravo fans together in their mutual dislike for the pair.
The RHOC casting news was a long time coming. Bravo took its time to figure out the next steps. The network decided to keep Shannon Beador, Gina Kirschenheiter and Emily Simpson on, while Elizabeth Vargas, Kelly and Boringwyn got the boot. And it’s a blessing considering all of the dark moments from last season, ranging from Braunwyn hitting her husband and offering Shannon’s daughter drugs to Kelly making controversial statements about the coronavirus pandemic and the Black Lives Matter movement. Fancy Pants will not stand for this foolishness, so they both had to go.
To be fair, Kelly has expressed in the past that she felt her firing was coming. She even said if Braunwyn stayed on the show that she’d be out. Luckily, both of them were forced to return their oranges to Bravo and go back to Newport Beach with their tails between their legs. And in one final move of messiness, Kelly posted screenshots from a text exchange with Braunwyn on her Instagram, letting her know she blames her for both of them losing their jobs. Kelly is a lot of things, but at least she’s consistent with her evil ways.
The screenshots begin with a text from Braunwyn, with the beginning chopped off. B wrote, “I hope you’re okay, I know we’ve been through hell and back but I’m here,” which sounds like a breakup line. Kelly didn’t hold back and went off on her former co-star (I freakin love saying that now.) “This was your fault,” Kelly began right out of the gate. “We’d still be on the show if you didn’t make things so dark and ugly and brought all that political ‘woke’ BS.” This is EXHIBIT A on why Kelly needed to go. She’s sounding as bitter as Brandi Glanville in this exchange.

Kelly’s text continued, “Your lies about me, calling me a racist and a homophobe were horribly destructive and your phony storylines didn’t help either.” Kelly, to be fair, the real horribly destructive comments about your character came out of your own mouth. Her dark energy has been prevalent on the show since her very first season, wayyyy before Braunwyn ever stepped on the scene. Braunwyn responded by saying, “Well I’m still sober and still gay, like I said if you ever want to talk I’m here.” Sounds like Braunwyn might have finally learned a thing or two about taking the high road, at least, based off Kelly’s strategic screenshots.
As if the texts weren’t telling enough, Kelly posted the screenshots with a lengthy caption to shame Boringwyn even more. “I can’t believe this Braunwyn has the audacity to text me !!! She went on a podcast .. She said she was fired from the show because we all didn’t like her because she’s gay. Not because she’s a horrible person. Not because she treated everyone like shit and made no effort to be friends with us. Not because she went on a press tour and made horrible accusations about us calling all of us homophobes and racist, Not because she’s a terrible mother. Not because she’s a horrible person to her husband. The only reason she was fired is because she is gay. What a fucking nut job classic narcissist!”

OK let me take a breath here. This is a doozy of a caption. It looks like Kelly will never grow out of mom-shaming or declaring her self-righteous attitude. I just don’t understand why Kelly was the one to post this exchange when it just makes her look bad. Looks like Bravo made the right decision in getting this whack job off our screen, alongside inauthentic Braunwyn. And now, let it rain champs baby!!
