Andy Cohen’s career is based around his love of pop-culture and Britney Jean Spears is a pop-princess icon he’s adored for years. Her tale of fame and fortune might seem great from the outside, but it isn’t a pleasant view from where she sits. Britney has been in the limelight since childhood and signed an album deal with Jive Records when she was only 15 years old. After reaching insane levels of fame and fortune, Britney had a very public breakdown.
In an effort to prevent harming herself or her riches, dad Jamie Spears took over as conservator in 2008. Now it’s been 13 years and Britney is still under her father’s control. Currently regarded more sinister than helpful, a #FreeBritney movement was born. People suspected maybe ‘ol Jamie didn’t have his daughter’s best interests at heart but really enjoyed her cashflow. Brit has gone to court to try and remove the ties that bind her, and last night on Watch What Happens Live, Andy left nothing to the imagination on his thoughts of Daddy Spears.
Britney saw massive levels of celebrity after releasing Baby One More Time in 1999. This young woman was treated like a product in her youth, not a person. Britney’s team turned her into a brand while she was worshipped by fans across the world. What fans didn’t know is she was struggling with stardom and being in a high-profile teen-aged relationship splashed across the media.
After becoming tabloid fodder from wild nights with Paris Hilton and a failed marriage to the father of her children, Britney broke one evening in 2007. She checked herself into rehab for substance abuse and stayed about 5 minutes before checking herself out again. Then she proceeded to walk into a salon and shave her head, much to the delight of paparazzi. After that episode, wheels were set in motion for Daddy Spears to take over. And boy did he ever. Now Brit wants out over a decade later and Andy is all fired up.
Last night Andy declared Daddy Spears Jackhole of the Day and WWHL shared the clip on Twitter. Andy delivered a passionate speech dedicated to demolishing what’s left of Mr. Spears at the close of the show. Andy said, “He [Jamie] continues to have a death grip on Britney’s life, along with his attorney Andrew Wallet.” He added, “A defiant and angry Britney appeared in court today and publicly addressed the conservatorship she’s been living under since 2008.”

In court, Britney shared she would like to get married and hopefully have another child, but is unable to do so because her birth control is controlled by someone else. She is currently 39 years old and has 30% custody of her two boys with Kevin Federline. Andy explained, “Her conservators won’t allow her to remove her IUD, think about that.” He added Britney says she was forced to do a 2018 tour as well as being forced to change her medication. Andy said, “She went on to say she believes her conservators should be in jail.”
Then Andrew got all fired up. “How about we all start listening to Britney Spears. Britney Spears is not a girl, she is a woman.” Okay, we get it. “And she certainly deserves a hell of a lot more than a LOW RENT MOMMIE DEAREST IN A BOXY SUIT!” Not a low rent Mommie Dearest! I’ll have you know Britney Jean owns 51% of this company! To Britney, Andy said, “Britney, after the courage you showed today, you are 100% Stronger than yesterday (oh god, no). Jamie, if you want to make money in the future, I suggest YOU BETTER WORK BITCH.”

Andy closed out his fervent monologue with the following war cry, “SAY IT WITH ME AUDIENCE… FREE BRITNEY!” Wow. That… was quite a journey. Hopefully Brit can rid herself of the Toxic elements in her life and will no longer be a Slave 4 U Jamie Spears. All together now… Free Britney!
