Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fans are not letting Lisa Rinna and her big lips get away with not “owning it” for real this season. After last year’s crusade against Denise Richards, some viewers haven’t been happy that Rinna would throw away a 20-year friendship over a rumor started by Brandi Glanville. Rinna was one of the driving-forcing in the Mean Girls gang to outing Denise without her knowledge and shaming her for not talking about an alleged affair on national TV. Coming from someone who threw a temper tantrum to avoid addressing rumors about her husband.
Rinna has been doing overtime on the show to prove she’s a good friend. But her matching outfits with Kyle Richards and total free pass to Erika Jayne aren’t fooling anyone. Thankfully, we have Garcelle Beauvais, aka the best friend, ever to go IN on Rinna and hold her accountable. And Sutton Stracke, who will apparently be the only one keeping the same energy going when it comes to Erika’s phony divorce and legal situations as the girls had against Denise. Not even a Scott Disick storyline will get Rinna out of this one.
And recently Rinna’s pissed even more people off, but this time it’s not directly related to her behavior (or tone-deaf analogies) on RHOBH. The biggest headline this week was undoubtedly pop icon Britney Spears‘ heartbreaking testimony about her 13-year conservatorship. To catch you up to speed real quick, Britney spoke out about her “abusive” conservatorship, helmed by her father Jamie Spears.
She begged a judge to allow her to control her own life (and mega-millions) after years of being under control and working her ass off to make everyone and their mama a paycheck. The #FreeBritney movement has reached a turning point, as it’s the first time Britney’s been able to publically express her feelings about the conservatorship. Brit’s fans everyone flocked social media to support the pop star, including Andy Cohen in a fiery segment on Watch What Happens Live.
So how does this all relate to Rinna, you may ask? Exactly. She’s inserting herself into the #FreeBritney narrative and fans aren’t happy. Rinna posted a clip on Instagram of her singing “Baby One More Time” in full Britney Spears attire. The caption read, “That time I did ‘Sing Your Face Off.’ #FreeBritney.” If you blinked, you probably missed her slight attempt at supporting the movement under all that self-love. And fans came for her in the comments for taking the moment to “self-promote.”

“Yes because it’s all about you,” a fan wrote. “It’s not about you, Lisa. You even spent time looking for this… mess,” another said. I couldn’t have said it better myself. But at least Rinna’s not the only Real Housewives star to receive the heat — Ramona Singer got the same treatment from the #FreeBritney crowd a few months ago for pulling a similar stunt.
The comments just kept going. “Not the best moment to shine the light on you, Rinna,” a viewer wrote. “Don’t get attention from that poor girl’s horrible life,” said another. Needless to say, these people aren’t jumping to buy some Rinna Beauty anytime soon. “Leave it up to Rinna to make it about herself like always. Still love her though,” a fan wrote. OK so maybe that one person will be buying a Rinna lip kit. I stand corrected.
