Everyone who watched last season of the Real Housewives of Orange County knew it was the disappointment of all disappointments. We lost OGs Tamra Judge and Vicki Gunvalson, and it was glaringly obvious the show couldn’t go on without them. Kelly Dodd and Braunwyn Windham-Burke’s outrageous antics only alienated fans more. And Shannon Beador showed she’s not the best leader, or friend, for that matter.
So RHOC had to do a huge shake-up before Season 16. And that included bringing back Heather Dubrow (Hallejuah). Braunwyn and Kelly both got the boot, to no surprise, and have not been handling the news well at all. And Elizabeth Lyn Vargas was taken down with them after just one season.
But Elizabeth’s cut wasn’t a total shocker. She spent most of the season being vague and acting a little bizarre. And even though she told the women not to ask about it, she brought up her divorce at every turn. Her biggest moment was when she unveiled a truth about her childhood, which included growing up in a religious cult, but that was about it. But unlike her fellow fired co-stars, Elizabeth is actually being diplomatic about her exit. Kelly and Boringwyn could learn a thing or two.
Elizabeth recently appeared on The Behind The Velvet Rope podcast with David Yontef to talk about her firing, Heavy reports. And according to Elizabeth, she was offered a contract to come back just a week before her RHOC firing. “I 100 percent thought I was going back,” she said. “Never even for a minute questioned it. I even talked to other producers, other people, other everything, my contract was still in place.”
That’s gotta sting. She added that it goes to show that “everyone’s disposable” when it comes down to the almighty dollar.

Elizabeth said she was even preparing for a second season before getting the news she lost her job. “The night they announced everybody, I got a call that day from my manager … he goes, ‘I don’t know how to tell you this, but they pulled your contract,’ when a week before, they had already solidified the contracts.” Yikes.
While I wasn’t living for Elizabeth last season, I think she fell victim to a horrible season that wasn’t entirely her fault. Maybe she could come back and have a second chance in a future season. But Bravo knew it had to make some drastic changes and bring wealth, and champs, back to the OC with Miss Fancy Pants. And maybe even a cameo from Tammy Sue.
