While the Real Housewives of New York is clearly going through a transition, I’ll never get sick of Sonja Morgan being on my screen. Sonjarita is as pure as it gets, even when other ladies are coming for her businesses (Bethenny Frankel) or projecting their issues onto her (Ramona Singer). Sonja’s been dealing with a lot in these past few seasons and it definitely shows. But she always finds some way to bring the funnies.
Last week’s RHONY episode showed the ladies attempting to confront Sonja about her drinking again. It all came after Sonja and newbie Bershan Shaw got into a fight that led to Sonja with a Sexy J breaking the glass of a fire extinguisher. It looked like an accident as a result of a little too much drinking and high tensions. But the ladies were acting like Sonja committed some terrible crime. Luann de Lesseps even had the nerve to say Sonja’s actions were worse than when she literally (allegedly) threatened a cop and got arrested. Sounds like some more projection yet again.
Sonja brushed it off, saying she only drinks around her girlfriends and denying she has a problem. While Leah McSweeney came at it from a seemingly genuine place, LuMona seemed as though they were just looking for ways to put Sonja down again. As Eboni K. Williams said, Sonja deserves more empathy and compassion. Not being yelled at for wanting to let loose on a girls’ trip.
According to Page Six, a blast from the past came back to defend Lady Morgan — Dale Mercer. Tinsley Mortimer’s mom was NOT here for the hate and commented on one of Sonja’s Instagram post to support her.

“Tinsley lived with Sonja her first season on RHONY, and Sonja is telling the truth about not drinking at home,” Dale wrote. “Not once did Tins see her drink alcohol there. Sonja drinks when she’s with ladies to let loose and have fun.” I couldn’t have said it better myself, Dale.
Now we need Mama Dale to get Tins her spot back on RHONY, now that Coupon King Scott Kluth dumped her and left her back at square one. While Sonja and Tinsley have always had the best relationship, it’s nice to see the baseline compassion after everything they went through.
