Real Housewives of New York has definitely hit a bump in the road this season. Fans are complaining left and right that it’s just not the same. And it’s not. Which is kind of the whole point. Cast members come and go, the dynamic changes. I admit the start of the season was a complete snooze fest. But the addition of Bershan Shaw added plenty of drama.
Bershan wasted no time stirring the pot. She called the ladies grandmas and told them they were boring. Then she started in on our beloved housewife, Sonja Morgan. Bershan mocked her incessantly and called her a clown. It was not a good look for Bershan. And it’s no surprise that Sonja’s fellow housewives took issue with the attack. Luann de Lesseps proved to be a good friend and defended Sonja. But one long time friend was missing from the defense team – Ramona Singer.
Lu made a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live, where she took Ramona to task for not sticking up for her friend of almost 20 years. A fan called in and asked, “How do you think Ramona, Luann, handled the Bershan and Sonja beef. And do you think she defended Sonja enough or was she throwing her longtime friend to the curb?”
The convo got slightly derailed a bit when the fan revealed they were in Columbia where they told Lu that the gay clubs love “Feeling Jovani.” Naturally. But the second host Andy Cohen brought Lu back to the question, she wasted no time telling us how she felt.

Lu said, “She didn’t defend Sonja enough. I thought she could have come in stronger for Sonja. I thought Ramona was a little weak there.” She explained, “Because they are old time friends and Bershan is a new friend.”
I couldn’t agree with Luann more. Ramona was dead wrong for not sticking up for her friend. And while Ramona pretends to like staying out of fights, she could have easily and politely told Bershan to knock it off. If I were Sonja, I would reevaluate my friendship with Ramona. I’m not saying she has to drop her as a friend, but Sonja should definitely tread lightly.
