The debut season of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City really delivered, and I just know that Season 2 is going to do the same. The trailer teases Jen Shah’s legal drama, rumors about Mary Cosby’s church, and a lot more messiness.
Last season, free-spirited Whitney Rose often found herself on the outs with Jen. During the premiere episode of RHOSLC, viewers watched Whitney renew her vows to her husband of 10 years, Justin Rose. Both Whitney and Justin were married to other people when they met, and they had a scandalous affair. They left their spouses to be together. You have to love a girl who twirls around her stripper pole to celebrate her vow renewal.
Jen threw a surprise party for her husband, Sharrieff Shah. Whitney, along with her cousin Heather Gay, decided to share some tea with Jen. Whitney revealed to Jen that both Meredith Marks and Lisa Barlow told Mary that they were afraid of Jen. Naturally Jen went ballistic, threw glasses, and stormed out of the party screaming. As any good hostess should.
During the girls’ trip to Las Vegas, Jen got up in Whitney’s face. She was still furious and blamed Whitney for ruining Sharrieff’s party. Whitney believed that both Lisa and Jen planned to target her during the Sin City get-away.
But HBIC Jen didn’t only make waves when RHOSLC aired. It turned out that the most shocking drama was still to come. Jen was arrested on March 30, 2021 and charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering. Stuart Smith, Jen’s assistant, was also arrested and faces the same charges. Jen and Stuart allegedly sold lists of names to telemarketing companies. These companies reportedly went on to defraud the victims, and many of those victims were elderly.
When Jen was arrested, Bravo cameras were rolling. The RHOSLC cast was filming because they were heading to Colorado. Jen received a phone call and told the group that there was a medical emergency with Sharrieff. Jen called her aunt come and pick her up.
Federal agents located the van when Jen wasn’t at home. Jen’s husband supposedly tipped her off about her impending arrest. She was arrested on the side of the road. Not so Shah-Mazing.

Jen pleaded not guilty to the charges, as did Stuart. In July of 2021, Jen and Stuart were both listed as “senior participants” in the telemarketing scheme by the U.S. Attorney.
A source told HollywoodLife that Jen allegedly “kept it very real and is maintaining her innocence to the ladies” while filming Season 2 of RHOSLC. “The ladies really had no idea. They found out when the rest of the world did and were shocked,” the insider stated.
Heather, Lisa, and Whitney spoke to Entertainment Tonight about their relationships with Jen. Lisa is supporting Jen as a friend. “If I am your friend, I am your friend. I am also not the judge, not the jury and I am not Jen Shah,” Lisa explained. “So, I think at this point, I am not going to change who I am and we are just going to see what happens and hope for the best.”
Heather has always been Jen’s ride-or-die. She said, “I want to be a great friend to Jen…Our relationship has changed for the past year because of the things that we have gone through, but as far as my support and my support of her and her family…It has not really changed with the charges,” Heather added. It must be difficult for the RHOSLC cast to walk such a fine line with Jen because of her legal issues.
Apparently, Whitney doesn’t face the same challenge as the other ladies. Whitney will “offer her grace and kindness.” But Jen and Whitney never had a solid friendship. If it turns out that Jen is guilty, Whitney remarked, “It is going to be hard for me to want to continue to be friends with somebody who took advantage of very vulnerable people…Or if I have seen the real Jen Shah.”
