Next Tuesday, after a year of being plagued with cancellation rumours, Vanderpump Rules returns to our screens! This 9th season marks big changes for the show, following the axing of long-time cast members Jax Taylor and wife Brittany Cartwright, Kristen Doute and Stassi Schroeder. As VPR changes however, much remains the same with regards to new dad, Jax’s slowly rising $1.2M tax debt. The Sun has checked in 6 months later, and reports that Jax continues to owe big money to the IRS and the state of California.
As many may recall, the bravoleb, along with his wife Brittany, purchased a stunning $1.9M Los Angeles home back in December 2019. Jax’s tax issues have since came to light, exposing a history of unpaid taxes, beginning in 2-14 with a $23000 debt to the IRS. In 2018 a further $198190 was added to Jax’s federal tax bill.
The year Jax and Brittany purchased their home, another $646,867 brought the total to $868,035. Documents newly obtained, confirm the VPR alum still owes the California Franchise Tax Board over $416,571 for 2018-2019. At the time that these details first emerged, Jax addressed the situation on an Instagram Live, explaining “Oh yeah, I had a bad tax situation. I had a bad bookkeeper. We all get bad bookkeepers. I suggest researching your bookkeeper when you pay your taxes because I got f*cked.” He continued, “I’m fixing it. It’s not a big deal.” These amounts will continue to accrue interest over times, which means Jax should get on ‘fixing it’ sooner rather than later!

Jax’s role on VPR certainly could have helped balance his books, earning the reality show alum $25000 an episode at roughly 24 episodes a season. It came as no surprise to any VPR fan however, that Jax met the same fate as fellow cast mates Stassi and Kristen, who were fired over the summer for problematic behaviors. Hours after Stassi and Kristen were canned for their conduct involving ex castmate Faith Stowers, VPR alum Billie Lee tweeted, “What about Jax Taylor? He refused to film with me because I was trans and called him out on his white cis privilege.”
In December 2020, Jax finally saw the guillotine and was officially let go for racist and transphobic remarks involving Billlie and Faith. Since then, both Jax and Brittany have not appeared to find work, and one can’t help but wonder where Jax will find the funds to clear his $1.2M debt. The Sun attempted to contact Jax, who did not respond, but glancing at Jax’s $1.9M modern farmhouse with 5 bedrooms, 5.75 bathrooms and an inground pool, I can think of one place, or asset rather…
