Apparently, it took stepping outside the Big Apple bubble, with some other Real Housewives, into the land of Turks and Caicos for Luann de Lesseps to see a new side to longtime cast mate and friend Ramona Singer.
“I had the most conflict with Ramona,” Luann explained in a recent E! News interview when discussing if there was any issues among the women who were filming for Peacock’s spin-off Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip. “I was expecting it to come from somewhere else, but it was home base.”
Both ladies along with The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills‘ Kyle Richards, The Real Housewives of Atlanta‘s Kenya Moore and Cynthia Bailey and The Real Housewives of New Jersey sister-in-laws Melissa Gorga and Teresa Giudice filmed for eight days, in four cities, for the mash-up Ultimate Girls Trip which premieres next month.
The history with Luann and Ramona is long. They started as original cast members of the RHONY in 2008. Over the years, they have screamed it out, made up, drank excessively, went on the prowl for men, laughed and crashed together, and in the end always make nice.
However, times are a changing. While filming Ultimate Girls Trip, Lu and Ramona seemed to finally splinter. Luann confirmed it was her and Ramona who went head-to-head throughout the trip.
“Funnily enough, I got along with everyone,” Luann explained. “It was so much fun.” Some viewers think Ramona’s obnoxious ways and mouth have just gotten old and need to go. Bravo is clearly listening. It has been rumored Ramona was not invited back for RHONY season 14. None of this is confirmed yet as RHONY’s upcoming season is on indefinite hold. RHONY ladies couldn’t even get it together for a reunion following season 13. The reunion show was cancelled due to scheduling conflicts, per Bravo’s statement.

While Ramona’s drunk and no-so-drunk antics were oftentimes overlooked, it appears that ship has sailed and accountability is happening. The “I can get away with any comment” and play it off like an over-the-top cartoon character, didn’t fly with Kenya. “[Ramona] did not get away with it this time,” said Lu. ”It was great because I saw a different perspective because I’m so used to Ramona.”
Lu admitted, “I saw the women’s reactions to her and it was like, oh maybe she shouldn’t be getting away with all of this ‘I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry.'” Ramona is the queen of apologies. She typically justifies her rude comments and actions as her own ignorance. It seems her inappropriateness, didn’t sit well outside her New York squad.
Kenya apparently wasn’t having it. Lu claims during the drama Kenya actually had her back. Luann admitted she was most nervous to meet Kenya of the RHUGT crew but found a friend in her. “I heard so much about her and drama queen and all that from Atlanta, but we actually hit it off which was a pleasant surprise for me,” said Luann.
While Ramona has been a constant character over the years on RHONY she may have fallen into the Vicki Gunvalson “too big for her britches” category. Vicki spent countless years being the drunk “whoop it up girl” before it all turned and accountability caught up and she was fired. Ramona may not be far behind Vicki on that road.
