Real Housewives of New York fans may disagree about cast members and the best seasons of the show. Butt here is one thing that brings us all together — Scary Island. The good old days of RHONY when we first learned of Ramona Singer’s insufferable behavior on vacations. And Bethenny Frankel’s total lack of patience when it comes to utter nonsense. While her time on the show was short-lived, we have the always eccentric Kelly Bensimon to thank for the episode that many of us can recite by memory. It will forever live in history and should be recognized as such.
Scary Island is single-handedly responsible for so many of RHONY’s best quotes. Screaming “GO TO SLEEP” has become a pastime for us fans. We remember Kelly for munching on gummy bears while calling Bethenny a “cook,” not a “chef.” And for running in the middle of the street during rush hour traffic in NYC, but that’s another subject. Kelly and Bethenny STILL have bad blood and bad feelings about the show. Bethenny claims Real Housewives ruined her credibility (even though it gave her a career) and Kelly is still a little bit wacky in her own way. And while we can never say never about a Kelly return, B seems to be off the reality TV train for good. That is, unless she needs an image boost by making RHONY fun again.

One understated character of Scary Island is Gwyneth Paltrow, who Kelly name-drops during the episode. Kelly claims that Bethenny attacked “[her] friend Gwyneth” in the press, prompting Bethenny to scream at her until she goes to sleep. The Goop founder recently appeared on Watch What Happens Live and was forced to watch the Scary Island clip and share her thoughts.
Andy Cohen asked Gwyneth if she knew anything about Bethenny attacking her in the press, or whether or not she really is good friends with Kelly. Gwyneth literally sat there silent, in disbelief about what she just watched. She half-heartedly shook her head no, telling all of us what we’ve been waiting years to hear. I’m going to need Kelly to make a comeback (or just another one of her unsettling TikToks) to tell her side about this particular moment. Even though a lot of what Kelly says is just as nonsensical as it was on this vacation from hell.
