Real Housewives of Orange County premiered last week and it opened with a dramatic shot of Heather Dubrow walking through the Dubrow Cheateau, which is really a gigantic luxury compound. It was clear from the first frame: RHOC is back and it’s bigger and better than the previous four seasons. In fact, let’s just act like those last few seasons never happened, okay?
That’s what Bravo producers are trying to do anyway since we picked up right where we left off with Heather. I’m totally on board with this. One hill I’ll die on is that RHOC was solid gold reality TV from Season 3 through 11. Having eight seasons of truly iconic TV is no small feat, but like all good things, it had to end. I associate the downfall of RHOC with the addition of Kelly Dodd and Heather’s dismissal.
Season 12 through Season 15 were terrible missteps in hiring and firing decisions. Quite frankly, I wasn’t sure I could continue on this OC journey until Bravo announced that they were bringing Heather back. With the Season 16 premiere, my faith has been restored in the series. It was however missing two things: Tamra Judge and the taglines.

Since three people will agree with me on the Tamra comment, let’s talk taglines! Entertainment Tonight has exclusively debuted “the new intro lines from the cast,” which now includes, “longtime star Shannon Beador, orange-holding veterans Gina Kirschenheiter and Emily Simpson, as well as newbies Dr. Jennifer Armstrong and Noella Bergener.”
Shannon’s tagline starts it all off with, “This Storms has found her sunshine, and the future is looking bright.” Sunshine and Shannon don’t actually know each other, but nice try Bravo! They don’t seem to know what to do with Shannon anymore. Although good for her dropping the Beador name.
Next, we have Gina’s, which is actually pretty cute: “I’ve still got a small house, but I’m living large!” This tagline is good because it’s actually believable and grounded in reality. Emily’s reads, “These days I don’t just raise the bar, I close it down too.” It’s funny enough, but it would be more honest if it went something like, “I lowered the bar with Shane, just like the California Bar.”

Newbie Noella’s is as exciting as watching paint dry: “In the OC, it’s easier to fit in, but much more fun to stand out.” This tagline doesn’t even try to register a personality, but then again, I didn’t pick up exciting vibes from Noella. I will say however that I love how her mom and dogs are in the intro shot with her. Jen’s tagline is pretty good: “I’m not afraid of a little jab… and the ones I give are the best.” No one on this show is going to argue with that!
Finally, Miss Fancy Pants’ tagline reads: “If you’d like to reach my standards, I’d suggest you get a ladder.” This one is perfectly Heather. It’s snotty, unapologetic, and points to what she prides herself on most, ridiculously high standards.
