The inevitable train finally wrecked. James Kennedy and Raquel Leviss, a couple of five years and castmates on Vanderpump Rules, called it quits sharing a joint statement on Instagram.
“After these 5 wonderful years we had together, we decided we have two different goals and made the decision to call off the engagement. We love each other very much, but we aren’t in love anymore. We want nothing but the best for each other so please keep any thoughts positive. Sending Love,” they both posted.
“Not in love anymore,” ouch…that line stung with rawness and finality OR is it more accurately described as planned and BS?
According to E! News, their VPR castmates Ariana Madix and Tom Sandoval were blinded by the split. On Watch What Happens Live, Ariana said she was “absolutely floored” when she heard the news.
Apparently the two couples were just hanging out at the happiest places on earth together and there were no signs of trouble in the newly engaged couple’s paradise. “We were just at Disneyland with them like two days before that and I never would’ve thought anything was amiss,” Ariana added. “So it was very shocking.”

Tom echoed Ariana’s shock and described the breakup as “probably the most surprising moment that we’ve had on Vanderpump Rules, like, in years.” That comment almost made it appear as if the whole thing was a scripted moved by James “the whore for more TV time” Kennedy.
First off, the split is not really THAT surprising. How that delicate porcelain doll, Raquel, didn’t break before five years is absolutely unknown. Secondly, sorry but the James/Raquel split is NOT, I repeat, is NOT more surprising than when viewers found out former Pump Rules castmate Jax Taylor cheated on then girlfriend and castmate Britney Cartwright with former Sur waitress Faith Stowers while she acting as a caregiver in an elderly woman’s home.
Finally, James took to Insta and shone a big ole spotlight on himself two days after the joint statement with a mirror selfie stating, “Last day of filming today and what a year it has been (to say the least). Today one chapter ends and a new chapter truly begins for me.”
James continued, “Not sure what I’m going to do but I do know one thing, I will continue my journey without alcohol, I will find my true self and the music never dies. Thank you to all my friends that have reached out I appreciate you all so much. Cheers.”

It was truly written like a teaser for next season’s VPR with James trying to make himself #1 VPR man. (Remember when Jax claimed he was??)
Andy Cohen asked Ariana if she thought the split was the real deal. According to her, after seeing social media posts of Raquel’s belongings being hauled off illustrating she was “moving out” of the apartment she previously shared with James, ….it “feels very real.”
