Lea Black was the HBIC when Real Housewives of Miami 10 years ago. Between the charity balls and her proximity to celebrities, Lea definitely ran the show. With the season 4 reboot, she was nowhere to be found. Many fans were surprised, since she was such an integral part of the show.
But season 4 cast member (who appeared with Lea in the original seasons) Alexia Echevarria wasn’t surprised. According to Alexia, “Honestly? [Lea] doesn’t have a relationship with any of us. It would’ve been weird if they would’ve brought her because she really doesn’t have a relationship with any of us. And I feel that that’s such a key factor in this kind of show.”
I’m not sure if Lea took this as a shot but if she did, she certainly took some time to fire back. As reported by Radar Online, Lea recently appeared on the podcast Behind The Velvet Rope With David Yontef to share some thoughts on Alexia. Lea started by revealing that she hasn’t watched season 4 of RHOM. As for her relationship with Alexia, she stated, “See, I was close to Alexia’s husband. I was never close to Alexia. And I heard some things that are, if true, I’m going to make a big stand-up and defend Herman [Echevarria] … on his behalf, if what I’ve heard is true about things that are been said about him through her on the show.”
Lea is referring to one of Alexia’s big story line of the seasons – that her deceased husband had a gay lover for years. While Alexia and Herman separated in 2015, they were not divorced at the time of his death a year later. Alexia found out about Herman’s boyfriend after he passed and even tried to meet with the man while cameras rolled. That didn’t happen, but Alexia did have a four hour conversation with him off camera. She likened the conversation to closure.

But Lea doesn’t thinks that outing a deceased person’s sexuality is “not fair.” She added, “He’s not here to defend himself.” Of Herman specifically, she said,”And he did nothing but lavish [Alexia] with luxury for years.”
Lea had to admit that Herman had “a lot of flaws” and “different aspects to his life.” But she also described him as “an amazing human being” and a “really good guy.” She continued, “I hope they don’t try to take that away from him.” Lea also hopes that Alexia and the showrunners on RHOM will “celebrate” Herman’s life by showing “the contributions he made to a lot of things in the world, to the community, Miami, to his businesses, taking care of her and her kids and his family.”
But Lea concluded defensively that “if anybody is trying to make him look bad. I will have a hard time keeping my mouth shut.”
