Erika Jayne’s Company EJ Global Suspended Amid Bankruptcy Proceedings

Erika Jayne’s legal problems continue. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star is busy filming, but the courts are busy with cases against her. A major case against her and estranged husband Tom Girardi was recently dismissed. Erika celebrated the win on social media but it was short lived. It was quickly announced by the Jay Edelson, the attorney representing the victims, that the case would be refiled in the state of California. The victims are alleging that they have yet to receive their settlement funds from the tragic Lion Air accident.

To make matters worse, Jay issued a statement about the refiled lawsuit. He said, “The new complaint we are going to file is going to be fairly explosive. We have now gotten information from Bravo though our case, including unaired footage, as well as evidence from the Bankruptcy Trustee.” He concluded with the bombshell accusation, “We feel very confident that we will be able to prove to a jury that Erika knew about Tom’s fraud and directly benefited from it.”

Erika is now taking another major blow. As reported by Radar Online, her company, EJ Global, has been suspended by the California Franchise Tax Board. Erika started in 2008  and it is listed as no longer active due to an “FTP Suspension.” So what does that mean? There could be a number of reasons for the suspension. One could be that the company failed to file a tax return. Or failing to pay taxes, penalties, fees, or interest.

Due to the suspension, Erika is no unable to use EJ Global for business-related matters. The company is also unable to sell or transfer real property. And Erika cannot close the business without fixing said issues. On January 21st, Erika’s attorney Evan Borges filed a statement of information with the courts regarding the company. It listed Erika as the manager. Filings indicate that the suspension was entered after he filed the new paperwork.

Evan explained, “Until recently, all notices to EJ Global LLC went to the offices of GK [Girardi Keese], which are controlled by the GK trustee. As of late January 2022, EJ Global LLC was in good standing with the CA Secretary of State. We did not receive any notice of the new suspension, and we’re trying to determine the basis.” Evan surmises that the suspension is due to an outstanding tax bill for $800. He added, “If that’s the case here, it will be rectified and this will be much ado about nothing.”

It’s important to note that EJ Global has been in the middle of a $25 million lawsuit against Erika. The suit was part of the bankruptcy proceedings for the law firm that Tom previously owned when the allegations of a Ponzi scheme started. Girardi Keese stands accused of owing approximately $101 million to a multitude of creditors. It’s reported that financial records indicate that he spend money from his clients’ settlement funds on Erika. Now that Tom finds himself broke, under a conservatorship and living in a senior living facility, his past clients are going after Erika for the money.

The trustee overseeing Tom’s bankruptcy case accused Tom of spending his firm’s money to pay EJ Global’s bills. Bank records showed that Erika spent $14 million on her American Express card over the course of a decade. The bankruptcy trustee also added that Erika ditched EJ Global to open a new company, Pretty Mess, Inc. when the legal problems started to build. Records do in fact show that Erika started Pretty Mess, Inc. in January of 2021.

Not only has a group of victims been given the ok to go after Erika for the settlement funds they didn’t receive but Erika was also recently ordered to turn over a set of earrings worth $1.4 million. They were given to her by Tom and the trustee alleges that they were purchased with his clients’ settlement money.
