Vicki Gunvalson is clearing a few things up. The former Real Housewives of Orange County star has been through it over the last few months. Mainly, her messy break up with former fiancé, Steve Lodge. But back in November, fans were shocked to hear Vicki reveal that she had battled cancer. She made the announcement during an episode of Jeff Lewis’ Sirius XM show. At the time she said, “I had cancer! I just had my whole f–king uterus taken out.”
Without more context, listeners and fans were stunned and wanted more information. So Vicki recently decided to clarify to Page Six. She explained, “At the end of the day, I had a full hysterectomy because I had cancer cells in my uterus and cervix.” She added, “They took it out — no chemo, no radiation. It wasn’t a two-year battle, like they misconstrued. It was two years ago.”
But Vicki cleared up that she never actually had cancer, just that the doctors told her that cancer cells were “noted.” She went on, “You don’t go get a full hysterectomy because you have nothing else to do tomorrow. He took it out. When I went for the post-op, she said, ‘Good thing you took it out. We did see cancer cells.’”

Despite this being such a personal matter, Vicki might feel inclined to shed light on what happened, given her past. Vicki famously claimed to have been conned by former boyfriend, Brooks Ayers, when he alleged that he was battling cancer. The whole thing played out on season 10 of RHOC. Love her or hate her, we have former housewife Meghan King to thank for shedding light on Brooks’ lies.
He was ultimately exposed for forging medical documents to say he had cancer. In 2015 he said, “Words cannot express the deep regret that I have in fabricating documents to ‘prove’ to the world that I, in fact, have cancer. What I did was wrong and inexcusable. I acted alone, without Vicki’s knowledge.” The couple split that same year after 5 years of dating.

Said Vicki, “Cancer is a very slippery slope because of what my ex did publicly and to me, so I chose to keep it private. I said to Jeff Lewis, ‘Why would anybody fake cancer like Brooks did when I had it myself?’” She then concluded, “That’s it. It’s gone, it’s done, it’s finished, but it then got pushed into all these other lies out there, so the truth is always the truth.”
