Dancing With the Stars has undergone a lot of changes in the past few years. Beloved host Tom Bergeron was fired after 28 seasons. Tom’s co-host, Erin Andrews, was also unceremoniously dumped. I’m still salty about it.
Executive producer Andrew Llinares defended the decision to fire Tom and Erin and replace them with Tyra Banks. “It was all about making the show feel fresh, making it feel new and make it reach out to a new audience — as well as the audience that’s been there for years,” Andrew stated. He added that Tyra “brought a new life to everything.” I could do without her excessive fashion moments, but that is just me.
Andrew left DWTS, and fan-favorite Tom reacted to Andrew’s departure. A tweet about Andrew leaving the show was shared by a fan, who asked Tom to share his “thoughts.” And Tom did not hold back. He tweeted, “Karma’s a b—,” with a winky face emoji.
Of course, Tom has had several co-hosts over the years. In 2010, Brooke Burke took over co-hosting duties from Samantha Harris. Brooke competed on Season 7 and took home the mirror ball with pro, and now judge, Derek Hough.
After co-hosting with Tom for seven seasons, Brooke was stunned to find out that she was fired. Former DWTS competitor and Fox Sports reporter Erin landed the gig.
According to Page Six, Brooke sounded off on Tyra’s hosting style during an interview on David Yontef’s Behind the Velvet Rope podcast. Brooke, who never worked with Tyra on DWTS, called her “a diva” and added that “everybody knows” it.
Brooke stated, “There’s nothing wrong with that, and I’m not saying anything bad about her — be a diva!” She added, “It’s [just] not the place to be a diva.” The former co-host acknowledged that Tyra had a “tough transition” taking over from Tom and Erin.
“Change is hard for everyone,” Brooke stated. “They’ve gone through a lot on that show, that’s for sure.” The actress added that as the host, “you are just not the star.” Are you taking notes, Tyra?
She continued, “Like, it is just not about you as the host, right? So, yeah, I think Tyra is great in a shining role. I will just say that.” The shade is real!
Tyra has received plenty of viewer backlash for her wild fashion and on-air mistakes. During Season 29, Tyra announced the wrong bottom two couples during the live show, throwing everyone into a state of confusion.

Page Six contacted reps for both DWTS and Tyra for comment.
Tyra also stirred up controversy when sources alleged that the new host banned any Real Housewives from the ballroom. Tyra’s publicist responded, “This is 100 percent untrue. She’s a huge fan of the Housewives.”
Now ABC and Disney have renewed the series for Season 31 and Season 32 but starting this fall DWTS will air on Disney+ instead of ABC. Kareem Daniel, chairman of Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution, stated, “Dancing with the Stars has entertained fans for 16 years on ABC, and we are excited to bring this beloved show exclusively to Disney+ as the platform’s first-ever live series.” It is unclear at this point whether Tyra will waltz back in as the host, and whether the judging panel will remain the same.
