It looks like Garcelle Beauvais is trying to bury the hatchet with Kyle Richards, at least, for now. After ruffling some feathers during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Garcelle is trying her hardest to keep the peace with her Real Housewives of Beverly Hills castmate. But how long can that last?
In case you missed it, Garcelle appeared on a recent episode of WWHL to promote her memoir. Andy Cohen was teasing what’s to come in season 12 of RHOBH, and he asked if she and Kathy Hilton were now closer than Kathy and Kyle. Garcelle responded by saying, “Absolutely.”
That one-word comment sent the Beverly Hills ladies in a tizzy. First, Kyle discussed it during an Amazon Live stream, saying it hurt her feelings and that she was shocked. Then, Kyle’s bestie Teddi Mellencamp went on her podcast with Tamra Judge and talked about how hearing Garcelle’s comments made her feel “really sad.” Poor Teddi.
In Garcelle’s defense, we all saw Kyle and Kathy having a bit of a clash in the new season 12 RHOBH trailer, and rumors about Kathy’s lousy behavior this season have been swirling around for months. So, it’s not like Garcelle said anything too outrageously left field. But still, she is trying to keep the peace and revealed to Page Six that she privately apologized to Kyle for making the upsetting remark.
“I reached out to Kyle, and I said that I was sorry for hurting her feelings about the whole Kathy of it all on Watch What Happens Live,” Garcelle admitted. “I really enjoy Kyle. I really do, and I did not want to hurt her feelings.”
When Garcelle first joined RHOBH, she and Kyle started off on shaky ground, but they’ve come a long way since then. When talking to Page Six, Garcelle continued to sing Kyle’s praises and her position on the show.
“I love Kyle, I really do! She’s an OG. I think she’s a great girl. She’s funny. When we’re together, we laugh like nobody’s business. We say the same things at the same time,” Garcelle said.
“We really do have a connection, and I think that you’ll see that connection this season. It’s unfortunate that we hit these bumps in our friendship sometimes,” Garcelle confessed. “Let’s let this season play out and see where we go from there.”
According to Garcelle, Kyle was receptive to her private apology. Kyle probably also appreciates that the private apology has now become public knowledge. But as Garcelle said, we’ll have to wait to see how the season plays out before knowing for sure where these two land with their friendship. We know that when it comes to The Real Housewives, just because there was an apology doesn’t mean that it’s the last we’ll hear about it.
