Candiace Dillard Bassett is a well-known villain in the world of Housewives. Known for her messy social media antics, the Real Housewives of Potomac star has taken a lot of heat for it. But when it comes to other Housewives, Candiace has been quick to point out that they aren’t held to the same standard. And she’s not wrong.
Take for example, Lisa Rinna, who is 10 times more active on social media and IMO, 10 times messier. In the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills pot stirrer’s most recent dust up, she went after another franchise. Rinna shaded the cast of Real Housewives of Dubai. And it reeked of racial bias. So when a fan tweeted Candiace her thoughts, she let her opinion be known. Fan account All About The Real Housewives caught the exchange and shared it to their Instagram page.
The fan asked, “At the #RHOBH reunion I want Andy [Cohen] to tell Rinna she’s a mess on social media the way he told @thereal CANDIACE. Cause Rinna gets away with saying a lot worse than Candiace did. #RHOP.” Candiace clearly agreed and responded, “They all get away with worse.”
Both the fan and Candiace are likely talking about Rinna’s recent Instagram activity. After accusing fans of calling the cast racist if they fight with Black castmate Garcelle Beauvais, she made a gross suggestion. Rinna told fans if they were “triggered” to go watch RHODubai. Dubai, which is on their first season, features a cast of predominantly Black and women of color. Lisa quickly deleted the offensive slides in her Instagram stories, but not before the internet captured them.
And the ladies of RHODubai didn’t take kindly to Lisa’s remarks. They dragged Rinna from Twitter to Instagram. Chanel Ayan tweeted, “Rinna Africa called and they want their lips back! Keep Dubai out of your mess and your mouth.” Caroline Brooks took some time out of her day to slam Rinna on Instagram. She called Rinna a “trash box” and said, “Your time is almost up. You’re boring and rude.” Rinna later made another Instagram post blaming her grief over the death of her mother for lashing out. She deleted that too.
As for Candiace, Andy called her a mess on Twitter at the RHOP reunion. He also told her that she “pissed a lot of people off” with her behavior on and off the show. Candiace snapped back at the criticism in February, after a fan noted Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’s Lisa Barlow’s explosive blow out on the show. Candiace tweeted, “She’s white. Black women can’t get angry. Like, truly angry. We’re vile and violent when we’re angry. White girls are always allowed the full scope of emotion. That was easy. Now, watch them justify her to tear me down some more. In 3, 2, 1….”
