Lights, camera, action! Ramona Singer is stepping back onto our screens. But it isn’t reality TV this time. The Real Housewives of New York City star retired her golden apple last year when she announced she wouldn’t return for the since-scrapped Legacy spinoff. Now, according to Page Six, she’s stepping back in front of the camera and taking on a new acting role in a short film.
News of Ramona’s gig went viral on social media when a Housewives fan tweeted, “Why have I just stumbled upon a short film starring Ramona Singer where she thinks her daughter is a lesbian.”
Sure enough, the accompanying clip shows Ramona questioning her on-screen daughter about her sexuality. The scene plays out like a twisted combination of a Lifetime movie and The Real Housewives of New York City.
According to IMDb, the upcoming film is called Friendly Distractions and is currently in production. Apparently, there’s more to the movie than just Ramona trying to dig into her daughter’s personal life. The official synopsis reads: “Follow the exploits of three single women, all friends in various stages of dating in New York City. Ella, a sheltered, newly divorced housewife forced to start over, seeks a new identity and a husband if she can find one. Jenna, a successful city girl with her own internal battles, finds comfort in her demanding career while her multiple suitors and relationships take a back seat.”
The plot synopsis continued, “And Janet, while emotionally intelligent and grounded, still struggles with moving on after a failed marriage. When she finally does, everything changes, setting this group of friends on a wild, exhilarating ride in a race against time as they learn about taking chances, falling, and getting back up,” the description concludes.
Sounds decent, right? There’s no word on when this film will be available to enjoy in its entirety, but the movie poster has Ramona’s face prominently featured like the leading lady she is. While some fans were puzzled by the RHONY star’s new gig, plenty of fans have been supportive of her acting chops.

One fan on Twitter wrote, “No amount of acting classes would teach anyone how to convey so many emotions with a simple shrug and this understated, subtle, subdued look of disbelief… She is a business maven, a pop icon, and now also a thespian!!!”
“Oh she’s coming for that Oscar,” quipped another fan.
We’re eagerly awaiting a premiere date for Ramona’s big movie. And, who knows, maybe she’s caught the acting bug and will go for more film roles in the future. The RHONY alum recently shared that she’s “never been happier” than she is in her post-Housewives life. No one could have predicted that acting would be one of her hobbies in retirement.
