Chrisley Knows Best Alum Savannah Chrisley Reveals Teenage Suicide Attempt

Savannah Chrisley is a young woman with a whole lot on her plate. You might think Sassy’s troubles began when her parents began participating in illegal activities. It turns out she had some problems long before her Mom and Dad went to jail.

But fans of Chrisley Knows Best wouldn’t necessarily know of Savannah’s previous issues. According to Page Six, Savannah attempted suicide as a teen and her daddy covered it all up. On an episode of her podcast, Unlocked With Savannah Chrisley, Sassy revealed the details of her crisis.

After explaining she “took a bottle of pills”, Savannah said, “Obviously [it] didn’t work because I’m sitting here today — thank God.” She did say since the episode, she hasn’t felt quite right. “But ever since then I feel like with my brain, my memory, it’s the most frustrating thing in the world because it feels so foggy,” she added.

The morning after her suicide attempt, her father Todd Chrisley showed her a Romans 8:28 devotional after she woke up. “It stated that through whatever hardships and adversities you go through, God’s gonna turn around and use it to your advantage,” Savannah shared. It must have helped immensely because she said her mindset changed “in a snap of a finger.”

“I went from this anger towards God to in my heart saying, ‘All right, God, you know what, why not me?’ Like, ‘What makes me any better to have to go through these things than anyone else,'” Savannah explained. She further opened up to followers and said she “tried committing suicide as a teenager” for “a multitude of” reasons, including “the things people would say.”

Here’s where it would be pertinent to observe Savannah’s age. She was 15 years old when filming for Chrisley Knows Best began. She would have obviously been subjected to the public’s opinion on her looks, her family, and whatever else they couldn’t keep their mouths shut about.

Her struggles were well hidden and “no one knew” Savannah had entered “game-changing intensive therapy.” Unfortunately, that wasn’t her only brush with suicide. Former fiancé Nic Kerdiles threatened to take his own life in February 2022.

Nic held a gun to his chin and his head. Both Todd and Savannah came to his rescue after he reached out. In an effort to beat the tabloids to the punch, the three made a now-deleted Instagram video describing what happened to Nic before his troubles became media gossip.

Savannah recognized Nic didn’t have the “luxury” of telling his own story before the public knew. She calls it “another form of trauma.”

Savannah currently has custody of her younger brother and niece while her parents are in prison. Todd is expected to be released around 2035. Her mom Julie Chrisley should come out 5 years earlier in 2030.
