America’s favorite reality star just scored a major new gig, and we’re frightened. According to Page Six, Kim Kardashian is starring in Season 12 of American Horror Story. Yes, you read that right. Between studying to become a lawyer, running multiple businesses, and navigating a nightmare co-parenting situation with Kanye West, Kim is about to add “Scream Queen” to her resume.
AHS fans are losing their minds over this casting announcement. For years, the show has been home to prestigious actors like Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, and Angela Bassett. So how in the world does the star of Keeping Up with the Kardashians fit into this puzzle? Ryan Murphy, the show’s creator, is known for assembling extravagant ensemble casts. Still, this seems surprising even by his standards. However, Ryan shared that he’s excited about the opportunity.
“Kim is among the biggest and brightest television stars in the world and we are thrilled to welcome her to the AHS family,” Ryan explained in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
The upcoming 12th season of the show is also bringing back fan-favorite Emma Roberts. So, if Kim makes you want to tune out, Emma should make you want to tune back in. She never disappoints on American Horror Story, and she’s skipped out on the last two seasons. When talking about Kim joining the cast, Ryan teased, “Emma and I are excited about collaborating with this true force in the culture.”

The 12th season of AHS is called “Delicate.” It’s based on an upcoming novel called Delicate Condition. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the story follows “a woman who becomes convinced that a sinister figure is going to great lengths to make sure her pregnancy never happens.”
Ryan didn’t spoil too many details about where Kim fits into the story, but he shared the part was written specifically with the billionaire reality star in mind. He described her role as “fun, stylish, and ultimately terrifying.”
Of course, this isn’t Kim’s first foray into acting. In 2008, she delivered a compelling performance in the spoof film Disaster Movie. Spoiler alert: she gets smashed by a meteor halfway through the film. In 2013, she had a supporting role in Tyler Perry’s Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor. She won a Golden Raspberry for that performance. So, let’s hope her acting skills have improved since then.
