It’s time for damage control. As the end of Love is Blind Season 4 approaches, Jackelina “Jackie” Bonds is trying to set the record straight about the timeline of her messy split from Marshall Glaze. The way things played out on the show made Jackie go from fan favorite to Netflix villain overnight. However, she wants the world to know it wasn’t quite as bad as it looked.
We love Love is Blind for the messiness, but the way Jackie suddenly turned on Marshall was tough to watch. With every episode, it became evident that they wouldn’t last. Then, when Josh Demas came into the picture, it became a full-blown love triangle.
Jackie ditched her wedding dress fitting and went for a coffee date with Josh. He brought her flowers. They kissed. It was a thing. The way it played out on the show made it seem like she broke up with Marshall after coming home from her date with Josh. Dumping your fiancé after going on a date with another guy is incredibly heartless. But, according to Us Weekly, it didn’t go down like that. Jackie took to Instagram to clarify.
“I have seen the latest episodes that have premiered on Love Is Blind and I must speak the truth. Marshall and I were broken up before I saw Josh at the coffee shop,” Jackie wrote on Instagram. “I am wearing different clothes, my hair is styled different and at the end of the [episode], I say, ‘I DON’T KNOW IF I AM GOING TO BE WITH JOSH.'”
Like many reality stars before her, Jackie blamed the show’s editing for making the situation seem more scandalous than it truly was. Kudos to her for trying to dig herself out of this hole. She explained, ”I am not sure what the reason is for playing the coffee shop date before the breakup but to restate, Marshall and I were broken up before Josh and I had our coffee shop date.”
We can give Jackie a break and blame dubious editing on the way her breakup with Marshall played out. But the fact that she refused to give Marshall the engagement ring back when he asked her for it was peak cringe. You can’t blame that on editing. Luckily, in her Instagram post, she had an excuse for that, too. She said, “As for the ring, Marshall did not pay for the ring, Love Is Blind paid for all the rings.”
Jackie hasn’t revealed what she plans to do with the ring she refused to return to Marshall. Maybe she just wanted to keep a souvenir to remember her failed reality TV engagement. Hopefully, Nick Lachey and Vanessa Lachey ask about the ring’s whereabouts during the upcoming live reunion. We have so many questions that need answers.
