Once again, Love is Blind is under fire for allegedly mistreating their cast members. Business Insider recently published a story detailing accusations from former cast members claiming “emotional warfare” behind the scenes. Kinetic Content, the production company behind the series, is now clapping back against the allegations. Us Weekly covered all of the details.
Rumors of behind-the-scenes mistreatment of the Love is Blind cast have circled the web for some time. However, once season 4 wrapped, more contestants started speaking out about what’s it really like to be in the pods.
In the article from Business Insider, Season 2’s Danielle Ruhl recalled a time when she experienced a panic attack during filming. She asked to leave the show but wasn’t allowed.
“I kept telling them, ‘I don’t trust myself. I’ve tried committing suicide before,'” Danielle recalled. “‘I’m having suicidal thoughts. I don’t think I can continue in this.'”
Other Love is Blind contestants claimed they were deprived of food and water while filming the show and forced to sleep in cramped bunk beds. Kinetic Content also allegedly threatened the cast members with a $50,000 fine for exiting the “experiment” early. The recent accusations are strikingly similar to those raised in a 2022 lawsuit by season 2’s Jeremy Hartwell. At the time, Kinetic Content denied the accuracy of his claims.
“Mr. Hartwell’s involvement in Season 2 of Love is Blind lasted less than one week. Unfortunately, for Mr. Hartwell, his journey ended early after he failed to develop a significant connection with any other participant,” Kinetic said. “While we will not speculate as to his motives for filing the lawsuit, there is absolutely no merit to Mr. Hartwell’s allegations, and we will vigorously defend against his claims.”

Now that the accusations have resurfaced, Kinetic is, once again, having to defend its practices. In a new statement to Variety, the company said, “The well-being of our participants is of paramount importance to Kinetic. We have rigorous protocols in place to care for each person before, during, and after filming.”
Of course, if these bad things were happening behind the scenes, Kinetic would not admit to it in a statement to the press. It’s noteworthy that so many contestants are making the same allegations. Where there’s smoke, there’s usually fire. Hopefully, there’s work being done to improve things.
According to the Kinetic Content Instagram account, they’re currently casting for the next edition of Love is Blind. So, perhaps the next generation of daters can find out firsthand whether or not being in the pods is actually a living hell.
