90 Day Fiancé Season 5 aired way back in 2017, though several of the scenes are still fresh in the minds of viewers. The season was memorable thanks in part to returning couple Nicole Nafziger and Azan Tefou. Azan Is MIA
Nicole and Azan continued their saga from 90 Day Fiancé Season 4 during Season 5, which was something that many fans appreciated, as they brought lots of drama to the franchise for years. The couple dealt with many issues during season 5, including Azan grappling with Nicole’s cheating. However, she brought her young daughter to Morocco and tried to work things out with him anyway.
Things between Azan and Nicole continued to go south at the reunion, as the American mother revealed she couldn’t get in contact with Azan. It was then revealed that the Moroccan man had been arrested. This drama added a final layer of chaos to Nicole and Azan’s relationship story line, which unsurprisingly ended in them splitting up before marriage.
Luis Mendez Fears Owls
One of the more enjoyably dramatic moments during 90 Day Fiancé Season 5 happened due to Luis. The entertainment Luis provided was sparse, as his relationship with Molly was full of nonstop drama and yelling. Meanwhile, Luis made Molly’s daughters uncomfortable in their own home. However, his fear of owls made for some more humorous drama for fans.
Luis and Molly memorably had a very unhealthy relationship, which led to many screaming matches and the couple splitting within their first year of marriage. During one of their many fights, Luis accused Molly of being a satanist because of the owl statues she keeps in her home. This comment has since become iconic among 90 Day Fiancé fans.
David & Annie Face Many Dilemmas
When it comes to relationship dilemmas, David Toborowsky and Annie Suwan had many obstacles to navigate and hurdles to overcome to be together. The franchise regulars made their debut during 90 Day Fiancé Season 5, when young Thai woman Annie chose to be with American man David. At the time, David was double her age and in extreme poverty.
David turned to his friend, Chris, to sponsor Annie’s visa. This led to the couple residing with David and his wife in Los Angeles until they were kicked out. However, in order to get Annie to the U.S., David infamously herded water buffalo to pay Annie’s bride price, with additional help from Chris. David and Annie faced backlash from both his children and Chris’ wife, while David’s checkered past threatened to derail their romance. However, Annie still chose to tie the knot.
Andrei Controls Libby
Elizabeth “Libby” Potthast and Andrei Castravet are another couple who are now regulars in the franchise. They made their debut during Season 5 and have since infamously dealt with lots of issues with her family. Libby’s siblings clash with Andrei, which has caused tension for years. However, Libby and Andrei also had a lot of conflict during season 5 with each other.
When Andrei joined Libby in Florida, he showed himself to be quite controlling. Andrei had an iron grip on his relationship, as he wanted to change things about Libby. This caused Libby’s family to become concerned for her well-being. Things reached a boiling point when Libby went to Miami for her bachelorette party and ended up going clubbing. This angered Andrei, though they still tied the knot at the end of the season.
