Vanderpump Rules star Scheana Shay had no qualms about sharing her reaction to comments made by Mauricio Umansky during the premiere of the new season of Dancing with the Stars.
It’s probably best to note that her reaction could likely have been colored by her potential general dislike of Mauricio in light of his ongoing public separation with Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards.
It’s no secret that the pair have been having a rough go of it despite trying to work it out and initially denying their separation.
Scheana Shay on Mauricio Umansky: “My heart sank…”
Even so, both Kyle and Mauricio have been working on moving on. The latter has hoped that participating in DWTS will help give him something to focus on other than his marital problems, something he admitted to in his opening package of the show.
In his video, he mentioned his estranged wife and noted that they both have had a “rough year.” The Buying Beverly Hills star also shared that he hoped DWTS would help him get his mind off his troubles. It was time to have a little bit of fun.
“Kyle and I have had some issues recently,” he said. “So I am looking forward to basically just not dealing with that and having fun on Dancing with the Stars.” And while that may seem relatively harmless, Scheana said that it was the way he said it that put her off.
“It was the way he said it,” she explained. Scheana was sitting near Kyle in the audience. She added, “I just looked at Kyle immediately after. I was like, there’s no way she saw this package ahead of time. And now it’s like, live TV. And my heart just sank.”
It’s never a good thing to have your personal struggles shared on national TV, but I would assume it’s par for the course for reality TV stars. Still, Scheana did not appreciate Mauricio’s comments.
“When I saw him in the bottom two, I was like, yeah, I think it was the package,” she concluded.
Supporting Ariana
On a more positive note, Shay has been vocal about supporting her castmate Ariana Madix, one of the other competitors on DWTS. During her recent podcast, Schenanigans with Scheana Shay, she shared that she watched the DWTS premiere to cheer for Ariana. She was joined by Summer House personalities Paige DeSorbo and Hannah Berner.
For his part, Mauricio remains in the competition. Let’s see how long that lasts…
