‘Sad’ Craig Conover Reacts After Rewatching Southern Charm Sewing Scene

Southern Charm star Craig Conover has long moved past the time his ex-girlfriend Naomie Olindo made a jab about his sewing. But watching that seen again still stung a little.

On a recent episode of Reliving Reality, Craig, 34, told US Weekly that he was the only one who saw “his vision” back then. “It’s just funny how I really was the only one that saw that vision. People were so passionate about my life that weren’t me,” he recalled. “I never understood it.”

Despite it still stinging to see the scene, Craig couldn’t help but laugh when he thought about Naomie, 31, telling him that all he did was “sit around and sew and pretend to do things.”

In the now-famous scene, Craig responds to her jab with, ‘What’s wrong with my sewing?”

The reply became his motto and a part of his Sewing Down South line of pillows. So, in a way, that moment jumpstarted his biggest passion.

Craig admitted that it was “humbling” to see how far he’s come since then. “It makes me happy,” he shared. “I picture the store now, and all the people that get to visit on King Street in Charleston, and I’m just happy I did what I said I was going to do.”

The Pillows & Beer podcast co-host also laughed and shared that he “used to drink a lot during filming,” so he honestly didn’t remember everything that happened, but he did remember “being sad” at the criticism.

“I felt so lonely at the time because I felt I was the only one that shared my thoughts about the business,” he explained. “Fortunately, I had supportive parents. Everything happens for a reason.”

Charleston’s pillow man

Despite the earlier hesitation, Craig followed his passion and became the go-to pillow guy in Charleston, South Carolina. He shared that fans yell “What’s wrong with my sewing?” at him all the time.

“I love it because it’s neat to do something different,” Craig shared. “While I never wanted to lean too much into the tagline or anything but you can obviously find ‘what’s wrong with my sewing’ merchandise in the shop.”

As for Naomie, who dated Craig for three years, she acknowledged that she was out of line in that scene, but at the end of the day, Naomie was happy she helped motivate him to pursue a business that gives him so much purpose.

“I just think it’s really good for him,” she said.

Southern Charm Season 9 continues Thursdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
