The tension between Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky was palpable during the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 13 premiere. It’s not as if all the drama between the estranged couple waited until mid-season to make an appearance. Now, Teddi Mellencamp is weighing in with an opinion. Because of course she is.
During a conversation in the premiere, Kyle seemed barely able to hold her emotions. Their dynamic changed a lot. Mauricio was also unaware that his wife had as many tattoos on her body as she did.
Then, there were the infamous photos of Mauricio holding hands with Emma Slater, his partner on Dancing with the Stars. There is a lot to unpack with this couple, and speculation abounds as to what actually happened between them.

Kyle’s good friend, and former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills co-star, Teddi, broached the subject during a recent episode of her Two T’s In A Pod podcast. She and co-host Tamra Judge discussed whether Mauricio “effed up.”
“Most of the time, the person that effs up isn’t the angry one,” Teddi explained.
“So you think he’s the one that effed up?” Tamra asked.
The former RHOBH star responded, “I think that it’s clear by watching this that Kyle is hiding how she’s feeling about things with Mauricio.”
Naturally, Teddi knows her friend very well. So her comments on Kyle’s reactions are worth listening to.
She continued, “I think it’s clear at this point Kyle’s not ready to open up fully and it looks to me like she’s protecting Mauricio but she’s freaking pissed.”
Some of Teddi’s comments were suggestive that she had also been cheated on by her husband, Edwin Arroyave. @breakingtherules_podcast shared a clip on TikTok of the comment that raised eyebrows about what transpired in Teddi’s own marriage.
“I think we’re just gonna keep seeing more and I think it’s really, I think it’s also jarring to us because [Kyle and Mauricio] always come off as such a united front,” said Teddi. “You know you’ve always seen them as this couple, but I’m sorry when traumatic things happen, and that is actually what happens.”
She continued, “For years I had so much resentment towards Edwin, and it was to the point where I couldn’t even look at him. And the fact that we’ve been able to work through it has been huge.”
Finally, Teddi spoke of how “hard” it is “to come back,” “once you’ve been burned.”
Tamra jumped on the comment to ask about Edwin. She said, “wait, are you saying he cheated on you?”
“Um … I’m saying, I’m saying that the photographs that, um, Kyle just had to see online from TMZ were very triggering for me,” Teddi responded.
