This year’s BravoCon was jam-packed with shade, but it wasn’t all gossip and messiness this weekend. One of the brightest moments came during the Real Housewives of Miami panel. Guerdy Abraira made the exciting announcement that she’s officially cancer-free!
Something to celebrate
“I’m cancer-free, officially,” Guerdy triumphantly announced during the RHOM panel. The crowd went wild with support, and it was truly a beautiful, BravoCon moment.
Guerdy continued sharing her health update and added, “I’m about to ring the radiation bell on Wednesday, so that’s exciting as well!”
The RHOM star was diagnosed with breast cancer in March after receiving a regular mammogram. The news arrived right at the time Season 6 of Real Housewives of Miami was beginning production. With her health in mind, she was hesitant about jumping back into reality TV. However, she ultimately decided to continue with RHOM in hopes of creating a teachable storyline for viewers
Over the summer, she underwent surgery to remove the cancer. At the time, she shared a hopeful update on Instagram, writing, “Today was surgery, and … we came out on top it looks like. So, we’ll see what happens, and I’ll keep you posted as I get more developments with the results of the pathology stuff.”
In September, she marked her last round of chemotherapy. She shared on social media that she still had 20 rounds of radiation ahead of her, but being done with chemo was definitely worth celebrating. Fast forward to today, and she’s officially cancer-free!
“I’m so blessed. I literally wake up every morning counting my blessings and making it count,” Guerdy told the BravoCon audience. “Remember that. Make it count!”
