When a relationship in a friend group implodes, things get messy, and we continue to see that with Vanderpump Rules co-stars in the ongoing aftermath of Scandoval.
At BravoCon, VPR star Katie Maloney said she didn’t understand why Scheana Shay would be hanging out with Tom Sandoval after it was revealed that he cheated on Ariana Madix, his girlfriend of almost a decade, with Rachel Leviss.
Katie told US Weekly she was confused by Scheana’s willingness to hang out with Sandoval. She said on the BravoCon red carpet, “Girl, I love you, but why do you keep making these weird choices.”

Katie’s revelation came on the heels of seeing Scheana and Tom spending time together in Las Vegas over BravoCon weekend, and the new trailer for the upcoming season of Vanderpump Rules shows that Scheana, unlike her co-stars, isn’t fully icing Tom out after his recent bad behavior.
“I check with her sometimes,” Katie added. “I’m like, ‘Do you feel like you’re on the wrong side of things often?’ and she agrees, and I’m like, ‘Okay, well, it’s good to know so you can correct that.’ But then she doesn’t correct it.”
Ariana agreed with her and added, “I mean, it’s weird, and I don’t know. It seems, you know, whatever. I am not going to tell someone what to do or how to —.” At this point, Katie interrupted and said she had no qualms telling people what to do and that they should do the right thing.
“It just seems like it’s not a difficult thing to do … unless you want to hang out with Tom. But then you have to also be ready that people are going to think it’s weird,” Ariana concluded.
“She’s risking her friendship with Ariana,” Katie commented. “If you’re going to be friends with him, she’s going to f*cking cut you off. Think about your next move carefully.”
Just really uncomfortable
In the VPR trailer, Scheana is seen giving Tom a hug. And she revealed that they were paired for “spiritual meditation” during filming.
“It was very uncomfortable,” she noted. “I don’t like what he did to Ariana, obviously. He and I have had a really long friendship, so everyone says, ‘Oh, Scheana the flip-flopper, Scheana needs to have loyalty.’ And losing a friendship that long has obviously been a struggle.”
Looks like Rachel made the right move not to return while the scandal remains alive and well. We’ll see if Scheana decides to stay civil with Tom or hop on the hate train fully with her castmates.
