The rift in Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky’s marriage became clearer in recent episodes of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Kyle seemed deeply affected by the rift with her sister Kathy Hilton, and spoke of putting herself first. The focus on working out and lack of boozing isolated Kyle from Mauricio’s lifestyle of sales, networking, and drinking at events. Their conflict over tattoos is puzzling, but clearly holds a deeper meaning for the couple.
Whatever their friends have observed privately is becoming more apparent with RHOBH fans. And recently, Kyle’s friends, Heather McDonald and Taylor Armstrong, shared their own opinions on the matter.
Heather thinks it’s a “midlife crisis”
The Juicy Scoop podcast host and the Real Housewives of Orange County star attended Patrick Carroll’s Kickz for Kids event in Los Angeles on Thursday, November 16. The Messenger interviewed the duo to get reactions on their friend’s marital struggles.
“We were seeing them doing a lot of things separately before the announcement came but I really think it could be a midlife crisis — but I also think it can be an awakening,” Heather stated. “I think when you become sober and you work out, and I think a lot of couples that have been together that long and then have that kind of wealth oftentimes do take a break and live [separately], maybe even can date other people and not get divorced. That is not a weird thing.”
So, such a dual household arrangement is not unheard of in these circles, where finances are not an issue. Is this the path that Kyle and Mauricio chose to take? Certainly, there are enough amicable feelings that they can film RHOBH together. And speaking of the show, the comedian credited Kyle for being open with her fans.
Heather added, “But when you’re public, I think there’s no way to hide it. So I give her great credit for not hiding it and for being really honest about it, and I don’t think they hate each other. They live together, they have kids.”
Taylor starred on RHOBH alongside Kyle from Season 1 to Season 3, and has maintained a friendship with her since. She only hopes for peace in the family.
“Kyle and Mauricio are like family to me and all I want is for them and the kids just to be happy,” she said.
