Real Housewives of Miami fans know this all too well, having followed Guerdy Abraira throughout her cancer journey. Fans of The Bachelor who kept up with Hailey Merkt after Season 21 know that she’s been going through a cancer journey of her own.
Hailey was known for appearing on Nick Viall’s season of the beloved ABC show, being sent home on week two. In August 2023, she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia and has been fighting ever since. Amid all the ups and downs, she recently scored a major triumph.
Hailey Merkt celebrates birthday before cancer treatment
On November 28, Hailey took to her Instagram story, telling fans, “There was a 2% chance of this treatment working… And it f*cking did! I am in remission!!!” Hailey’s particular diagnosis has a chemo-resistant mutation, which is what made the success rate of the treatment so low in the first place.
Her story continued, “To everyone that prayed, thought of me. Sent positive energy my way, sent words of encouragement… Thank you. I truly believe that the energy from everyone helped bring this miracle to life. It definitely gave me a lot of hope.” Her fan support has been evident ever since her diagnosis.
Hailey’s successful treatment wouldn’t be the only good news of the month. On November 4, Hailey celebrated her birthday, sharing her cake day fit with fans. She received an outpouring of support as she assured herself and fans that it would hardly be her “last.”
