Kathryn Dennis exited Southern Charm after Season 8. But, her off-camera life has been just as dysfunctional and dramatic.
Last month, a vehicle registered to Kathryn was involved in a hit-and-run incident near an elementary school. It was unclear then if Kathryn was the person driving. Now, the victim has spoken out.
The victim feared for her life
The victim disclosed to Radar Online that the outcome could’ve been worse, resulting in fatal or serious injuries.
School crossing guard Michelle Ward expressed gratitude that “her children” weren’t crossing the street when the 2022 Ford Bronco recklessly raced past Whitesville Elementary School in Moncks Corner, SC.
Kathryn’s been designated as the “suspect” owner and was reportedly “arrested” following the October 20 occurrence, according to documents obtained by Radar.
Michelle, who’s also a deputy sheriff, admitted to fearing for her life when she observed the speeding vehicle approaching. “You got a vehicle coming at you that, the speed limit over there is 35 (mph), but you can tell this person is not doing 35 and getting hit – that hurts.”
Michelle continued. “The vehicle struck me on the right side. Luckily, I turned around to notice that she wasn’t stopping because otherwise, I would’ve gotten hit in the back — blindsided. But I turned around and saw that the vehicle wasn’t stopping and tried to get out of the way, but I wasn’t faster than the car, unfortunately.”
She twisted her ankle while attempting to avoid the truck, which sideswiped her right side and collided with her right hand as she instinctively raised it for protection.
She believes the consequences could’ve been worse. “Depending on how you get hit, you could hit your head on the concrete or asphalt, and that could be damaging.”
Michelle’s still dealing with her injuries and wears a boot on her leg. “I love my life. I’m not ready to leave. Even what they consider minor injuries – it’s major to me. I can’t do my normal job. I can’t do my extracurricular activities. There are a lot of things I can’t do. It hinders my life drastically.”
Will Kathryn be held accountable?
Investigators tracked Kathryn down after Michelle used her police radio to provide a description of the vehicle and a partial license plate. She identified the driver as a “white female with dirty blonde hair.”
No charges have been filed against Kathryn by the South Carolina Highway Patrol – yet.
Michelle says she wasn’t familiar with Kathryn or the show until after she found herself in the middle of the street, shielding her students from catastrophe.
The trauma’s still fresh. “I close my eyes, even today, and I can still see that person in the car,” Michelle shared.
Kathryn has yet to address this. Blaming others is on brand for the reality TV star, though.
You can stream Kathryn’s seasons of Southern Charm on Peacock.
