Tamra Judge may have only been dismissed from two seasons in her time on Real Housewives of Orange County, but with all the drama she stirred up on Season 17, it’s hard to believe she was ever gone. Of course, the quality of that drama is up for debate.
Still, her 12-season run on Orange County made her one of the most iconic Housewives of all time, and one of the most recognizable to the general public (not to mention “That’s my opinion!”). After Season 14, Tamra would be let go from the OC cast.
Some reports are in opposition when it comes to why Tamra was fired. Many outlets claimed that Tamra and Bravo had a disagreement over salary. More widely accepted is the idea that Bravo simply wanted fresher faces in front of the cameras, and Tamra simply wasn’t doing it for fans anymore. Now, Tamra has reflected on the moment it happened.
Tamra was blindsided by her firing
Tamra sat with Alex Baskin on Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast, discussing the moment Alex called to fire Tamra. When Alex brought it up, Tamra joked, “The day you tried to ruin my vacation and my life? … Oh, that was a great call. Probably one of the best calls I’ve ever gotten, ever.” Alex said Tamra tried to prompt him to text her instead.
“First of all,” Tamra began, “I was camping, and there’s not a lot of cell service there. So, I happened to drive up to the main road just to check in at home [with the kids].” She said she was dirt biking and her kids were “too boujee” to want to join her camping trip.
Once she got the chance to check her phone, Tamra saw “all these missed calls and a text message from [Alex].” When she encouraged Alex to just text her, Alex explained that they needed to have a conversation. At that point, Tamra realized, “Oh sh*t, you’re firing me.”
