Alongside Dolores Catania, Emily Simpson, Jen Fessler, and maybe Margaret Josephs (but NOT Kyle Richards, OK?!); Heather Gay is the latest Housewife to cop to using Ozempic.
Heather spoke to PEOPLE at the Women of Reality TV event in LA, and the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star spilled the tea on using the diabetes drug. But, she’s keeping it real – no major weight loss miracles yet.
Heather hasn’t lost much weight, but still felt the impact of today’s beauty standards
Heather shared that she isn’t new to Ozempic – the FDA-approved prescription med for type 2 diabetes that is all the rage in Hollywood for weight loss – but though she’s been on it for a while, she hasn’t seen a huge change.
“I’ve been on it for a long time, but hadn’t really seen much results. And I haven’t had massive results, but enough for people to notice, which is great,” said Heather.
Heather found it “discouraging” to see that even with her minimal results, people began treating her differently.
“You lose five pounds, people are nicer to you. I don’t know why. It’s just the way the world works and that makes me sad for women. But happy that I’m down five.”
She also worries about the impact of modern beauty standards on her three daughters. This, despite making her bread and butter from Beauty Lab + Laser, a cosmetic medical practice whose sole purpose is tweaking people’s physical appearance.
Heather shared, “I think that we put so much pressure on ourselves and it’s hard. And I have three daughters that I love and I don’t want them to have my genetics or have to struggle with society’s standards of beauty.”
“I just wish that there was a solution for all of us. But I’m feeling like I’m coming into my own a little bit and I think the glow up might be a little bit from that, too. But I’ll give credit to all the medical intervention. It’s my business.”
Heather gave more detail into how she handles the conversation with her girls. “What we value at Beauty Lab, I value for my children, which is just that self divination and informed consent,”
“If you want to change your lips and it’ll change how you think of yourself and how you act in the world, then please spend a little bit of money and a little bit of time and set it and forget it and move on and make some change in the world.”
“I don’t think I would ever tell my daughter, ‘Oh, if you don’t like your lips, get over it.’ I would just say change it. Change your lips, change your life and be who you want to be. Define who you want to be and pursue it relentlessly.”
Well, that is some advice that many a Housewife has definitely taken. Just ask Heather’s current nemesis, Monica Garcia!
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City continues Tuesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
