The Real Housewives divorce curse is real. Every year, at least one Bravo-based divorce or separation is reported. Sometimes, the couples are able to work things out. Other times, a divorce becomes finalized, and the newly freed Housewife is launched into her dating era.
More often, we see marriages that have hit a lull. When this happens, the couple presents on-air as trying to work things out. Here’s looking at you, Dorit and Paul “PK” Kemsley. That said, Dorit and PK’s issues feel sketchy, so it’s anyone’s guess on how this one will play out.
From ended engagements to separations to divorces, this year has seen it all. Looking back over 2023, these are the eight Real Housewives who have announced a split this year. Side note, we also covered former Housewives, because we’ve got the time to bring you a full cup of tea.
Alexis Bellino and Andy Bohn
Alexis Bellino was a Real Housewives of Orange County star from Seasons 5-8. Post filming, Alexis and her husband Jim Bellino announced their divorce. Jesus Jugs then went on to date a film producer by the name of Andy Bohn. In 2020, the pair got engaged.
This September, however, the two called off their engagement. In an interview with People, Alexis shared “Drew and I have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple. Despite this, our love for each other remains strong, and we both sincerely wish nothing but the best for one another. We recognize that it’s in our best interest to pursue separate paths.”
Currently, Alexis is out there, posting her sorrows and thirst traps alike online. We’ll say it. We’d love to see a single Alexis back on RHOC.
Monique Samuels and Chris Samuels
Former Real Housewives of Potomac star Monique Samuels filed for divorce from Chris Samuels, her husband of ten years, in April of this year. By September, their divorce was finalized. On this, Monique took to her since-expired Instagram Live to clear Chris’ name.
“It wasn’t just all on him, it was also just with myself, dealing with my own issues and trauma,” she expressed. When discussing why she chose to not remain in her marriage for the sake of their children, Monique stated “that never works because staying together for the kids means that you’re giving them a terrible example of what a relationship should be like.” She’s right, and now, we’ve got another split apart Real Housewives couple.
Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann
Kim Zolciak and her husband Kroy Biermann formally starred on Real Housewives of Atlanta. These two are messy. This year alone, they announced their separation and then a divorce, but yet, just a few days ago, Kim and Kroy got back together. As these two change their minds as often as they’re sued, we’re leaving them on this list of Real Housewives who have announced their split in 2023.
Eva Marcille and Michael Sterling
Real Housewives of Atlanta’s former star Eva Marcille married Michael Sterling in 2018. The pair brought two sons into this world, with Michael also stepping into a father-like role for Eva‘s daughter Marley.
However, in March of this year, Eva filed for divorce, stating that their marriage was “irretrievably broken,” according to court documents shared by People. As for the space that she is currently in, Eva shared that her faith has helped and that she’s “good.”
Joanna Krupa and Douglas Nunes
Real Housewives of Miami‘s alum, Joanna Krupa, parted ways with her husband, Douglas Nunes, as he filed for divorce on March 24, following four years of marriage. The two wed in 2018 and share a three-year-old daughter. As she is now single, might we suggest that the fiery Joanna join Alexis in making a return to her former series?
Drew Sidora and Ralph Pittman
RHOA Season 15 ended with a bang, and a break, as Drew Sidora and her husband Ralph Pittman announced that they were divorcing following nine years of marital bliss pairing.
“After eight years of wholeheartedly fighting for my marriage, I have made the agonizing decision to release my husband with love,” Drew shared in a statement to People. “Although Ralph and I have decided to move forward separately, the hope is to remain friends so that we can co-parent responsibly.” And just like that, yet another Real Housewives couple was DOA in 2023.
Monica Garcia and Mike Garcia
As seen this season on Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, newbie Monica Garcia just divorced her husband, Mike. Monica claimed that her affair with her brother-in-law had nothing to do with this split, rather, she and Mike just grew apart.
Originally married in 2009, Monica first filed for divorce in 2013, but the pair made up. This time, it’s official, giving the pair a spot on our list of Real Housewives 2023 splits.
Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky
Last, but far from least, Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky‘s marriage has been falling apart before our very eyes this season on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Mo has long been accused of cheating, yet now, Kyle and her newly-formed friendship with Morgan Wade is raising it’s own set of questions. Amidst their troubles, Kyle stopped drinking and lost a shiz ton of weight (not hating, she looks great). No real explanation for their current separation has been revealed, but Kyle has admitted that her sobriety affected her marriage to Mauricio.
Kyle and Mo have both stressed that the word divorce is not currently on the table. However, they did say that they are separated, which is why they are on this list of 2023 Real Housewives marriage casualties.
We hate when love is lost. Therefore, we wish all of these reality television stars well, as they move forward, figuring out their next storyline steps.
