Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: RHONY Legacy star Luann de Lesseps returned to St. Barths and the alleged scene of a steamy crime. Luann and her co-stars stayed at the same house that the Real Housewives of New York City cast enjoyed during Season 5.
Back then, Luann was smitten with a Johnny Depp lookalike pirate named Tomas Ribeiro. And her co-stars, and the entire world, thought that she and the pirate hooked up. But Luann denied that she saw the pirate’s booty treasure. Even after she was caught speaking French on the phone, asking her friends to go along with her story that Tomas never went to the villa. Of course, Luann did sneak him in.
Luann insists that nothing happened with the pirate
“Oh, this rumor never goes away. I didn’t have sex with the pirate!” Luann told PEOPLE. “I’ve said it for years now. I say it on the show. And in the end, the girls are still in interviews like, ‘Well … I think she kind of slept with the pirate….’ It blows my mind!”
She continued, “These women, they know everything about me. I’m an open book. I’m telling you, if I did the pirate, I would wear it like a badge of honor!”
Luann claimed that she lied because she wanted to protect her boyfriend at the time, Jacques Azoulay. “My goal at the time was really to protect Jacques because Jacques and I were very much together — living together — and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, he’s going to see this on television. He’s going to see I brought a pirate back with me and think something happened when all I was doing was showing him around the villa,'” Luann explained. “So it was really about covering that up.” The couple eventually split up.
Tomas, who now calls Miami home, has been in touch with Luann. In 2020, he appeared on Watch What Happens Live. Both Luann and Tomas denied that they hooked up.
When asked if she would change anything during the Season 5 trip to St. Barths, Luann didn’t disappoint. “At this point, I wish that I had done the pirate. I do,” Luann said. “They’ve worn me down, so I’ll just say it — I wish I had done the pirate.” I don’t know. I think the lady doth protest too much.
And as for RHUGT? Luann claimed that someone did have a fling with a pirate. Once again, I think either Sonja Morgan or Luann found a swashbuckling love interest.
