Basketball Wives star Brittish Williams has something to look forward to this winter before surrendering to prison. According to court documents, the reality star was set to turn herself in on December 11. However, she asked the judge for more time to prepare her family for her departure.
Brittish, who pleaded guilty to 15 felonies, including bank and wire fraud and misuse of a social security number, told the judge her mother would take custody of her child while she serves her four-year sentence. However, her family needs more time to find a suitable home for them to live in.
“Ms. Williams and her mother have been working to find the necessary place. They believe that she will be able to move in by the end of December. A little more time is needed to get a suitable living space for them. They have been working on it. They will not need more than a 30-day extension to get all of these issues finalized,” her lawyer said, according to Radar Online.
Brittish can celebrate Christmas with her daughter
In addition to the reality star’s request, she also noted her daughter was “desperate” to spend the holiday season with her. Despite slamming her for her crimes in the past, Judge Autrey was in the Christmas spirit. Brittish’s request was granted. Brittish now has until January 3, but no later.
This news comes days after Brittish did a sit-down interview with Carlos King and spoke about her gambling addiction, and father’s death, leading her down a path of criminal behavior. “No one even knows this besides my family and friends. I used to have a very, very bad gambling problem, horrible,” she said. “Like when you think about people … being on drugs or people … being alcoholics, I don’t think there is anything worse than gambling.”
“I remember being just at Christmas one year and losing almost $50,000, like, in two days. It was horrible.”
In a press release from the United States Attorney’s Office, they said Brittish used other people’s Social Security Numbers “to open bank accounts and commit bank fraud.”
“She deposited thousands of dollars’ worth of checks taken from other peoples’ accounts without their knowledge and then withdrew the money, causing another $23,850 in losses.”
