It seems like Real Housewives of New Jersey stars Melissa and Joe Gorga are never fully at peace. If they aren’t fighting with family members, they’re being sued. Now someone wants $1.4 million from these two and all I can say is, best of luck with that one!
Perhaps Joe and brother-in-law Luis Ruelas can co-sign on loans for each other amid the financial issues their businesses are having. That would be one way to secure a long-lasting family bond sure to incite further trauma. But first, Teresa Giudice’s brother and her nemesis are facing a big legal issue and Radar has the details.
Blanca Hernandez wants her dough
A woman by the name of Blanca Hernandez claims she was permanently injured at a property owned by Gorga Enterprises. She wants a whopping $1.4 million for her troubles.
In 2022, both Mel and Joe, plus their business were sued over a situation that occurred back on January 27, 2021. According to Blanca, she was “severely” incapacitated at the location of 10 Cortland Street in NJ. This property was reportedly maintained by Joe and Melissa’s company.
Blanca’s lawsuit implied the property was not maintained in a safe manner, which resulted in her permanent injury. The legal docs state she suffered “diverse injuries, great pain, and suffering. And has incurred and will continue in the future to incur extensive medical expenses, permanent injuries, suffered physical and emotional injuries of both a temporary and permanent nature, suffered considerable pain and anguish” and “loss of wages.”
Joe and Melissa respond
Team Gorga denies all accusations of any wrongdoing and basically deny anything they did was the cause of Blanca’s complaints. Additionally, Melissa and Joe advised any damages were caused by the carelessness of “persons not a party to this action and this/these defendant (s) is/are not liable.”
Further, “[Blanca’s] injuries and damages, if any, were the result of circumstances over which this/these Defendant(s) had no control or right of control and this/these Defendant(s) is/are not liable therefore,” their attorney replied.
It would please Melissa and Joe to have the whole case dismissed, but Blanca is like Oh I don’t think so…
Blanca now says Gorga Enterprises never officially responded to her suit. She has requested the court to submit a default judgment for $1.4 million. At this time, there is no reason for Melissa and Joe not responding to the initial complaint.
Earlier in December, the couple revealed the firm of Macdonald & Herforth would represent them at trial. A hearing has been scheduled regarding the request for a default judgment.
Real Housewives of New Jersey will return with Season 14 and Joe and Melissa’s wallet probably a bit lighter in 2024.
