Ever since the final few weeks of The Golden Bachelor, its leading man Gerry Turner has faced some negative press. He’s been accused of stretching the truth when it comes to his career, and his dating life before the show. While nobody can question he was mourning his late wife following her death after battling a bacterial infection in 2017, some reports suggested he was back on the market sooner than he would have anyone believe.
Of course, that’s not the narrative he presented while on the hit ABC series. Now, Bachelor alum Nick Viall is having his say, and he’s not pulling any punches.
He spoke to Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea podcast (nice name, guys), to share his take on the 72-year-old, and the controversy surrounding him.
Did our Golden Bachelor move on too quickly?
“It’s tough to watch an entire season of Gerry selling this entire narrative that all he’s been doing since the passing of his wife was cry, play pickle ball and occasionally [have] this weird one-on-one moment with some hand lotion,” the Viall Files podcast host said. “And in reality, we come to find out that the body was barely cold before he started dating. And it opens up a lot of questions about what was going on.”
Yikes, those are some fighting words. They’re almost hard to stomach, unless you believe what came out in an exposé about Gerry earlier this year. Gerry’s ex spoke to Hollywood Reporter, maintaining anonymity, but claiming she had dated Gerry for three years shortly after his wife’s death. It contradicted the story Gerry had told on ABC’s dating show. He said he hadn’t been kissed since his wife’s passing.
For his part, Nick knows what it’s like to be a part of the Bachelor machine, after leading Season 21 in 2017. It’s hard to imagine he would join the pile-on against Gerry, unless he believed there was some merit to the controversial claims against him.
TELL US – DO YOU THINK NICK VIALL IS BEING TOO HARSH ON THE GOLDEN BACHELOR? HAS GERRY BEEN TELLING THE TRUTH? OR DID HE LIE TO MAKE GOOD TELEVISION?
