Those who follow Lisa Vanderpump and her husband Ken Todd closely know that the Vanderpump Rules producers are often entrenched in a lawsuit. At times, the couple faces multiple legal battles at once.
Earlier this year, Todd was sued for over $1 million by his former PUMP landlord for the space the restaurant used to take up. On more than one occasion, Lisa and Ken were sued for allegedly refusing to pay their workers their well-earned wages.
Recently, Ken lost a lawsuit with a former employee over unpaid wages throughout the pandemic. Erika Lepe, a former bookkeeper for PUMP, alleged that she did not receive compensation for work performed between March 16 and June 8, 2020.
Ken Todd was “unable to provide clear” evidence
As per documents obtained by RadarOnline, Lepe filed a claim with the Labor Commission of The State of California. Lepe said PUMP agreed to pay her $2,307 biweekly and failed to cover six pay periods. According to her petition, the unpaid wages totaled $14,076. Lepe also demanded $3k in unused vacation time, as well as punitive damages.
The Commission wrote that Ken “testified that P.U.M.P. was closed at the start of the COVID-19 Pandemic in March 2020 but that [Lepe] was kept on performing work for some time thereafter.” Lepe provided several emails and text messages as evidence of her work over the six pay periods. The commissioner ruled Lepe submitted “credible testimony and evidence.”
On the other hand, the commissioner said Ken was “unable to provide a clear answer as to how long [Lepe] was performing work or when precisely she stopped working for Defendant other than the business was not shuttered until” June 15, 2020. Lepe was awarded $24,767.62 for her unpaid wages, as well as interest and penalties.
Welp. This one looks pretty clear cut.
Meanwhile, LVP returns in Vanderpump Rules Season 11, which premieres January 30 at 8/7c on Bravo.
