Vanderpump Rules fans will almost certainly recall the time Tom Sandoval left a happy birthday message in Rachel Leviss’ Instagram comments. Rachel rightfully and expectedly blocked him after the fact.
Tom explained that he was just hoping to send her some love. Of course, once she blocked him, he got all holier-than-thou, telling PEOPLE that Rachel was “struggling with taking accountability for her actions and just wants to point fingers and be mad at everybody else.”
Ultimately, Rachel made the right decision getting as far away from Tom as possible. Now, with her upcoming podcast right around the corner, Rachel has reflected on the birthday blocking in a teaser for Rachel Goes Rogue.
Rachel questions Tom’s motive: “He could’ve DMed”
“He couldn’t have reached me via text because I blocked him the day after I got my phone back after treatment. But he could have DMed me instead of making a public comment.” Indeed, Tom’s public wishes did seem performative. To this day, Rachel still wonders about Tom’s intentions when he left the birthday wish. “It could go either way,” she said.
She continued, “It was a hard process for me to completely cut him out of my life because the story I would tell myself about our relationship that we had seems so special and seems so real but when you look at the cold hard facts and write them down on a piece of paper and see all of those red flags clear as day, that will break you out of your denial.”
Rachel explained how things changed once she was cut off from Tom. “Once I was broken out of denial and realized how manipulative he is, I couldn’t put myself in a situation at my most vulnerable state,” she said. “It would just get me back to those old patterns that I’m trying to break free from.”
