Derek Hough is asking his fans to pray for wife Hayley Erbert as she prepares for a second surgery. The Dancing with the Stars couple have been going through it since Hayley was forced to have emergency brain surgery earlier this month.
“I strongly believe all the prayers that have been sent with the intention and love of Hayley’s recovery has helped so much,” Derek said on Instagram via his Stories. “I can’t thank you all enough.”
He continued: “She is going in for surgery this morning (December 20, 2023) to replace a large portion of her skull that was removed during her Craniectomy. Please keep her in your prayers as I believe the collective energy helped her through these past few weeks.” Derek signed the message off with some more love and thanks for those following.
A tough journey ahead for Hayley post-surgery
This latest update comes after Derek shared an update and video of Hayley last week. He said her recovery so far had been “nothing short of a miracle.” Derek also noted the “profound reminder of how fragile life can be and how quickly things can change.”
Hayley has remained silent on her own socials since her hospitalization. She was treated for “a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel.” It’s clear that the next few months and possibly years are going to be some of the most challenging in her life.
Thankfully, she seems to have a plethora of great people around her who are willing to step up. Alongside her husband, Derek, friends such as Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough have sent their support.
