The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills stars left the 90210 franchise and snagged an orange when she revealed she had joined the Real Housewives of Orange County for its 17th season. Taylor Armstrong was the first housewife to successfully crossover to another city and be welcomed with open arms. Technically, she may have held a clementine since she was just a friend of the cast, but fans were ecstatic to have her back on the small screen.
Sadly, in November, the mother of one shared that she would not be returning for Season 18, leaving fans wondering if she exited the series too soon. Taylor shared a post with her fans, writing “Loved spending time with the ladies of #RHOC and thankful I got to give the viewers an update on my life. I’ve made some real friendships that I cherish. Wishing the ladies all the best for season 18.” Whether she was let go by Bravo or came to a decision on her own, fans are torn on whether it was her time to abandon ship or not.
I Forgot Taylor Was on RHOC
If we are being honest, the newest season of the Real Housewives of Orange County wasn’t all that interesting. But during Season 17 of the Orange County franchise, I plum forgot that Taylor was even on the show. Her random pop-up cameos weren’t enough to keep me interested. She also had no storyline whatsoever. The most significant part Taylor played in the season was helping to explain all of Heather Dubrow’s IMDb accomplishments.
Taylor came in hot in the last ten minutes of the season, but fans learned nothing about her as she exited the season finale while white girl wasted. Personally, I was really hoping she would add something to the cast dynamic, but I was let down.
Taylor’s Best Wasn’t Good Enough
Taylor had been out of the Bravosphere for some time, officially leaving the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in 2016. So it could be that the mother of one had just lost her knack for reality TV, forgetting she actually had to be interesting. I mean, she did already deliver us one amazing meme during her time. Taylor very much needed a game plan for her reprisal role on RHOC.
She tried her best to come for Heather, but unfortunately, her best wasn’t very good. I didn’t find myself rooting for Taylor either, even after her tragic marriage to Russell Armstrong. Season 17 just showed Taylor as white noise on the OC. Frankly, I don’t feel she has the energy to go head-to-head against co-stars like Tamra Judge, Heather, or Vicki Gunvalson.
Taylor Comes off as Sloppy
Maybe it is an unpopular opinion, but I didn’t find Taylor fun to watch, especially when she had one too many cocktails. Taylor, in many of the scenes, comes across as a wreck, but not in a fun way. More in a messy way.
She turned a lot of people off when she tipsily noted she had rich, $5 million friends. At times, Taylor’s interactions and drunken mumbling would make me anxious as a viewer, and no one wants to be uncomfortable when watching reality TV. Taylor just may be too fragile for the Bravosphere.
The Final Verdict
No amount of Taylor trying to recreate her cotton candy moment makes me want to see Taylor back on Bravo. So, I do not believe that Taylor exited the franchise too early. There is no doubt that Taylor went through a lot and is still a bit of a mess.
It was hard to ignore that Taylor was still somehow fixated on getting rich. Even though her backstory is interesting, Taylor just doesn’t cut it, and I am glad she chose to leave on her own terms. If you happen to be a Taylor fan, you can still see her update fans on social media, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
