It’s XXPEN$IVE to be sued, and Erika Jayne might be about to find out. As you all know, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star has been performing her residency show in Vegas for a few months, where she “sings” a compilation of her songs and music from other artists. However, we’ve come to find out that the vocals in one of the songs in her set are actually by the popular dance music artist Amber (Marie-Claire Cremers), and the Dutch-born singer isn’t here for it at all.
Amber took to her Instagram recently to call out Erika for a few things, but primarily for stealing her song and vocals without her permission. “So, today I was sent this clip here … and just like Karin Kasar from the Real McCoy had the nerve to lip sync to my track and original vocals when she was on the road with them and act like it was all her, so does this one apparently,” she began.
At first, Amber mistook the reality star for a “drag queen,” saying she’d be okay with that kind of art and representation. “However, it turns out, she was on one of these [Real Housewives] reality shows,” she continued. “No wonder I do not know her.” But it’s not the fact that EJ is a wannabe popstar (like many other Housewives) that upset Amber; it’s deeper than that.
Amber calls Erika out for lip-syncing: “Go live, girl!”
For Amber, it’s not that a Real Housewives star is (pretending) to sing her music; it’s that Erika went about it the wrong way. “Why are you not taking out a mechanical license and just set up a little produced track yourself and add YOUR OWN vocals?” she asked on Instagram. That is if she “must lip sync … otherwise, go live, girl!”
Woah, Amber — you’re expecting too much from this girl. Don’t forget, this is a $7 show, and they had to preserve the budget somewhere. It looks like live vocals are what had to take the hit.
On the other hand, though, Erika, you actually should be ashamed of yourself.
“Never, in a million years, as a self-proclaimed performing artist, would I even come up with the thought of lip-syncing to a track and a vocal of another artist (on a paid show), unless that is all I do and all people know me clearly for, as a drag queen,” Amber continued. And to top it off, she added some hashtags, “#DontBeLikeErikaJayne,” “#AuthenticityMatters,” and “#GuuuuuuurlBye.”
Get her, Amber! I’m living for this.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills continues Wednesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
