Denise Richards made a big impression on fans after appearing on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, due to her seemingly batshit behavior. So far, she’s only had a couple-episodes cameo. But, she’s made the most of her time.
Many viewers thought, “Woah, I’ll have what she’s having!” after seeing Denise’s facial contortions, upside-down jacket, and an incoherent attempt at confronting Erika Jayne at yet another RHOBH “dinner party from hell.”
However, Denise wanted to put some of the rumors to rest. She says she wasn’t under the influence of any substances – at least intentionally.
Denise: I wasn’t feeling well, only had one drink
Bethenny Frankel sat down with Denise on her Just B podcast to talk about Denise’s return to RHOBH as a guest after giving up her diamond in 2020.
Denise says an invitation to Kyle Richards’ now-legendary party courtesy of Garcelle Beauvais is what brought her back.
“I was asked by Garcelle, ‘Hey, would you go to a dinner or lunch or something?’ And I said, ‘You know what? If you’re there, I’ll go and do it.'”
Denise’s demeanor left viewers wondering if she was intoxicated. She clarified that she didn’t partake in the weed because it doesn’t jive well with her body. She says she’s only tried it twice, didn’t like it, and was promised non-weedy options. However, things went “sideways” at the dinner, even leaving her husband Aaron Phypers scratching his head.
Denise shared, “I came home, and Aaron was like, ‘What is wrong with you?’ And I go, ‘I don’t know.’ I’ve never been like that.”
Bethenny asked if Denise had pre-gamed for the party, but she insisted she only had one drink to take the edge off. She also wasn’t feeling well, but didn’t want to bail.
“Progressively during the evening, I felt worse and worse,” she confessed. She says she took some “regular cough medicine… and then I just [don’t] remember half the night. It was bizarre.”
Denise then questioned, “Maybe there was a mix-up in the meal or the water or something. I don’t know. All I know is when I got home, I was like, what, there’s something wrong with me.”
She also tried to explain her interaction with Erika. Denise was on a mission to ask, “Why you gotta be such an asshole?”
“I felt like I didn’t even know where to start. That’s why I kept telling her, ‘Did you watch the show?’ Like, where do I start? It starts from the beginning of the season that I was on to the end.”
Denise won’t be watching
Denise is turning a blind eye. “I won’t even watch it because I’m sure I obviously made an ass out of myself. So I was like, why the hell am I going to watch myself like that?”
Ironic, because these ladies making asses out of themselves is often exactly why we tune in!
